50Cent to Replace Whitaker’s Expendable

Forest Whitaker was the one sprinkling of quality actors in Expendables, but apparently due to a scheduling conflict he was forced to drop out. He may have been literally expendable. So who do they figure is an appropriate substitution? 50Cent

FirstShowing shares:

Forest Whitaker has dropped out of Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendables due to a scheduling conflict. So who has Sly found to replace him? None other than Curtis Jackson aka 50 Cent.

Production on The Expendables has been pushed back a month. Thus Whitaker had to pull out due to scheduling conflicts with prior engagements.

So who in their right mind would think that an appropriate replacement for Whitaker would be a rapper.

I get that they are trying to gather the greatest action stars together for an action romp of epic proportions so they wanted to add some muscle. Literally. I get that. But when they chose to bring Whitaker on board, I am sure it wasn’t for his dazzling abs. So why replace him with a non-actor meat puppet like Curtis Jackson?

I hope this all turns out to be a wild rumour and we can go back to the Expendables stories where nothing but good news spills forth.

  1. Wow. So first of all I agree that 50 Cent has not turned in a single quality role. That being said I don’t get the venom being channeled into this whole “he is a rapper and not an actor” thread of discussion.

Mel Gibson was a good actor and then also became a great director.

    Ditto for Eastwood.

Ditto for Costner (okay, really hit and miss on both the acting and directing)

And while none of his performances to date indicate that Mr. Jackson is going to evolve into a great or even good (or heck even watchable) actor I don’t think its fair to slam on someone for trying something else.

If he ends of blowing in this role then its fair game to pile on the performance and even Stallone’s decision to cast him when lots of other great alternatives were available (Snipes and others mentioned in previous comments).

Some of the comments here make me think of a high school guidance counselor … trying to slot everyone into a little box.

    1. Acting and working WITH directors is a lot different from being a singer/rapper and suddenly deciding you can act. Mel learned a lot about directing by working WITH dozens of directors.

      Ditto for Eastwood.

And none of Jackson’s performances indicate any shred of talent and prove that he is a better rapper than an actor.

    1. Did you manage to keep a straight face the ENTIRE time you typed “50’s not that bad of an actor”?

      He ISN’T an actor.

Its not just his role in Get Rich, it was his role in… oh wait, it was every time he tries to pretend he is an actor.

I know he is trying, but he is stunt casting and nothing more.

  2. I was quite hyped to see The Expendables but this casting is a bit of a downer, there are loads of black ACTORS that would be a much better choice than 50.

I’ve read elsewhere that 50 isn’t playing Whitakers part but rather his playing the character Hail Ceaser which was originally intented for Wesley Snipes.

  3. ah great, 50 cent and stone cold……… this ‘great film’ is turing into a puppet show and gets more ridiculas by the week.

I’m beginning to lose faith in what was looking like a brilliant and much needed action flick.

Dosent stallone realise we want to see a load of 80/90’s action heroes doing what we remember them doing, kicking ass.
Not a bunch of piss poor rejects who arn’t even actors by profession.

Every new bit of info released or leaked on this films sends it spirraling lower and lower

  4. Well, it could have been worse…they could have hired that no-talent sloth Seth Rogen. At least 50 Cent has actually experienced a real-life scenario by being shot a few times. Not that I am a fan, but come on. yadayadayada

    1. Android, at least Seth Rogen is an ACTOR. You might not like his style, but he IS an actor.

If Seth was trying to start a career as a hardcore rapper, I would mock him just the same.

And “being shot a few times” just means you are a retard, its not something that gives you credit. Taking a bullet doesn’t make you a better rapper, and being a rapper doesn’t make you an actor.

  5. I puked in my mouth a little.

You know what this means don’t you? You’ll have to put up with some awful Fiddy track during the end credits of the film…

I have an awesome idea for hollywood: Make a movie starring every single rapper-wanna-be-actor: Ice Cube, LL Cool J, Mos Def, Fiddy Cent, DMX, Will Smith, and throw Beyonce Knowles in there too.

    1. Will Smith is not an actor wannabe. How many Oscar noms do those other guys have?

Smith has proven himself. All those other guys have proven is that they should have stuck with music.

  6. Why 50 Cent?!

Why not LL Cool J? (not just a better actor, a better rapper too)
    Better yet…?

    Why not Wesley Snipes?
    Ving Rhames?
    Michael Clarke Duncan?
    Tom ‘Tiny’ Lister?
    Michael Jai White?
    Billy Blanks?

    see what I mean?

hell Sly, you got Colture…why stop there? See if Quint ‘Rampage’ Jackson ever thought about acting!

Noooo you want to hex this thing with 50 Cent!
