Dwayne Johnson will be flexing his acting muscles in the live action adaptation of the classic cartoon Jonny Quest. Not signed, but rumoured to play Jonny Quest himself would be Zach Efron, but that might just be some media buzz casting as he just isn’t right for the role. He is too old to play the 11 year old son of Dr Benton Quest. Doesn’t mean it won’t happen, but it would change the feel of the movie just to get a hot teen draw name.
Dwayne Johnson is definitely Bannon, and Efron is in line to play Jonny, although he’s not a lock due to Efron’s advanced, 17-year-old age. While I can see the allure, that’s a big change to add into the mix.
The Cartoon Network already gave us an updated version of Jonny Quest with the blatant tribute to the archetypes found in the Venture Brothers.
Cinematical proposes that they should just make a live action adaptation of the Venture Brothers instead since their pick for Race Bannon is already more like Brock.
But nostalgia is the flavour of Hollywood now, so adapting classics near forgotten are ripe to introduce an old thing to a new generation. They have been making remakes since the dawn of Hollywood, so while others are ripe with rants of “nothing new in Hollywood”, remakes don’t bother me at all.
well i think he would be good as race….for those who say race wasnt all big n shit….well who cares it was 70’s cartoon……any ways im sure that mr johnson really doesnt mind being called the rock…i mean the rock was one of the main stay wrestlers along with stone cold who brought wrestling back from near end….either way when i see him in a movie poster i think i see dwayne “the rock ” johnson in my head…..sure he will always be the rock but he is swayne johnsom the actor too….and touche rodney on the will smith call….i agree. ps dwayne johnson isnt a lame name…and making a venture bros movie would be stupid cause it wouldnt make that much money….i mean fuck if we are going that way can we just make a fucking rainbow brite movie? hahaha

I have been saying for years that they should make a Jonny Quest movie. I still have some of the episodes on VHS. I agree, Efron can ef himself, but I can see Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (as they refer to him in many movies) as Race. Despite his white hair, he was never really that old. We just need to see a more uptight character than he has done before. Seasoned war veteran he isn’t, but that’s what it takes in my mind. You can’t be “Wassup?” cool and still be Race Bannon. I suppose Beck from “The Rundown” is as close as he’s gotten. Hell, I’m just excited to see that this is actually being made! I mean, you guys have to admit that there are certain series or movies etc. that you just can’t bear the thought of them being lost to age and obscurity.
Dwayne Johnson was only known as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson when he was also a wrestler.
Since quitting wrestling, he is no longer refered to as “The Rock” no matter how many people still remember him by that name.

They HAVE to get a child for Johnny, at least for the first film. You age him up, and you just have The Rock guarding some 18 year old jackass. Making him older gives you permission to make the action more intense, but you can steadily increase the danger should this film spawn a sequel. I hope they find an unknown kid.
