I had heard of this film a while back but then it just disappeared. Website was taken down and no mention of it on imdb. Well now it has resurfaced.
I find this very appealing in a couple ways. First off. Jewel Staite. Her character doesn’t appear to be as adorable and infectious as her role on Firefly, but she is still a beautiful girl.
Secondly, despite being standard “group of people in an isolated place get hunted down by killers” plot, this does look interesting. Yeah, its been done to death but it has a little bit of a Lost feel to it. Mysterious things in the jungle threaten the lives of stranded castaways dealing with their own interpersonal stuff.
Might just be standard fare horror film crap, but it might be good anyways.

IMDB lists a new film called “The Lost Tribe” and in its trivia listing it says
Initially shot in 2006 but during re-shoots the following year all but one of the original cast was replaced and most of the initial footage scrapped.
That’s pretty harsh. I guess the first movie wasn’t all that good if they thought they had to scrap it all.
Well without Jewel Staite in it, I have no interest anymore!

LOST, that’s exactly what it reminded me of at first – kind of also gave me a bit of a Congo vibe. The premise does seem pretty run-of-the-mill, but it has its own flavor in a way. Too bad about the thing being scrapped it must have been exceptionally horrible. Can’t count the number of trailers I’ve seen that got me excited about a movie that ended up being complete garbage.
I feel certain… strangely certain… that the new one will kick all sorts of ass.

Uhh. There’s a lot more to this one. The movie ‘The Tribe’ was shot, but was not up to par and is not scheduled to be released. The movie was re-written, re-cast and re-shot and is now ‘The Lost Tribe’ and is due out in 2009 sans Jewel Statie. Good trailer, though…
this trailer has me interested especially for watching jewel staite. this reminds me of the movie descent except it’s not in a cave.
Interesting trailer, it may be a standard horror film, but it may be worth a Netflix rental. Jewel Staite is hot, and, anything for the cast of Firefly.
