We have news today for our Aussie friends. If you were looking for a 3-D animation job in Sydney, Happy Feet is now taking resumes. We get the following news from our friends at comingsoon:
The Age is reporting that Warner Bros. Pictures will make Happy Feet 2 at a new digital production facility in Sydney, Australia. NSW Minister of State Development Ian Macdonald revealed on Sunday that the George Miller-directed sequel will employ an average of 438 people over three years. They will include some 230 computer-generated imaging artists.
This is more of a job posting than a news item that we may discuss. I wasn’t looking forward to a Happy Feet follow up, but I’m glad that 438 people will enjoy employment because of it.
If any of you are Australian animators and intend to apply for this job, please keep us informed of your progress and fill us in on details of the process itself!
Happy Feet was overrated but good enough in the first act that I couldn’t hate it. Even the penguins sucked me in.
Hi doug,
I was wondering if you are able to find out the new studio or how we can apply would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Cheers!
oh crap! im sorry guys but happy feet was down right awful to me
Didnt they move the Happy Feet production to Canada in hopes of using the same resources to make the failed Justice League movie?
Guess they moved it back after their sad hopes at JLA movie died!
Happy Feet was overrated, but it didn’t suck to me. I’m not thrilled for a sequel either
That’s almost interesting…
It’d be nice if they were looking for some audio peeps because then I could care :P
I’m just kidding. It’s not bad news for some of us. Might be good news for animators who’re trying to take a break from the game industry and take a step into the film industry.
Oh boy another Happy Feet can’t wait (sarcasm)
