My Name is Bruce

ImpAwards.com shows us: a poster for the upcoming chinfest My Name Is Bruce.

Not to be confused with They Call Me Bruce, this is a cult classic in the making. You can’t really go wrong with anything that has Bruce Campbell in the lead. He has such a cult following that this Mistaken Identity genre (Three Amigos, Galaxy Quest) almost seemed made for it. Those previous screen Gems were just leading up to this.

No matter how good or bad this movie is, people will just shrug and say “Its Bruce”. If its bad, it will surely be so bad that its good. If its good, it will so good its good.

You can’t go wrong!

  1. ..because its my opinion and i can.

doesnt mean im right..when i said “this looks exactly like ace ventura” i didnt know if anyone would agree or not (or even care)

just saying what i thought based on what i remember from the dvd i rented from blockbuster months ago

nothing against you rodney ; ]

now to take things farther….if he was wearing a hat and had a wip on his belt…

  2. Hazmat, you can keep sayin it, but aside from a Hawaiian shirt (hardly an exclusive trademark of Ventura) there are no similiarities at all. And the plot of this movie has nothing at all similar either. Why are you harping on this?

    Seriously.

  3. Hazmat, you might want to reconsider.

First, the plot of this movie has Bruce Campbell on vacation when people being tormented by an undead spirit mistake him for the character he plays in the Evil Dead series. VACATION – which explains the shirt.

Secondly, that font is from Indiana Jones. Not Ace Ventura.

Third, that is Bruce Campbell’s hair and he has worn it like that for decades. I would be surprised if they did his hair differently since he is playing “himself” in the movie.

Fourth, the trees in Ace Ventura 2 poster (there are no trees on the first poster) are from a jungle. These are common deciduous trees. Also, AV2 has a white daylight poster and not dark gloomy blue.

Fifth and sixth, Now you are just stretching it. 99% of posters have a title and subtitle on it.

Seventh, you are making a VERY big logic leap trying to tie the movies together claiming this is a Ventura ripoff. There are very little similarities at all.

    Sorry.

  4. are you f$@#ing kidding me?

    – the shirt
    – the font
    – the hair..although its not as ridiculous as carreys
    – the blue background with trees is identical to ace venturas background
    – the actors name is on top just liek on ace ventura (lots of posters have this but ALL ace ventura posters have it like that ^^^)
    – and its got 3 stupid quotes on it…ace venturas was like “more animals! mora hair! more adventure!”..this ones got 3 stupid ass quotes too
-and ace ventura had natives with swords…although idk WHAT the fuck thats supposed ot be ^^^^

    ……

    but appart from that…

all this guy needs is to be standing on top of 2 gators like ace ventura was on the dvd

  5. I saw it a few months ago at a festival and it was a blast!
The movie itself isn’t that great to be honest, the story is totally predictable and a few gags fall totally flat, yet I was very entertained by the whole film as was the rest of the crowd.
Bruce himself is reliably awesome and there are a lot of hints and gags referencing other Bruce-films, so if you are a fan, you’re in for a treat.

I strongly suggest seeing this one with a crowd that knows what it got itself into rather than seeing it alone on DVD.
I don’t know if this film will generate new fans, but it will please the old fans that are here for one reason only: Worshiping Bruce. If you want to do that, you won’t be disappointed.

I still can’t get the theme song for the demon out of my head:
    “Quan-Di was his name,
    Quan-Di is his name,
    Quan-You Quan-Me Quan-Di
    Quan-Di is his name.”
