A Jealous Ghost

Kristen DunstKristen Dunst is set to go toe to phantom toe in A Jealous Ghost. We get wind of this casting, and news about the film from our friends at movieweb:

Kirsten Dunst will star in A Jealous Ghost, with Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego attached to direct for Paramount Vantage. According to The Hollywood Reporter, screenwriter Megan Holley adapted the A.N. Wilson novel, and is doing another short pass on the script before Vantage hopes to push it into production.

Wilson’s 2005 novel describes a young American woman who travels to London to write a dissertation on Henry James’ classic ghost tale, “The Turn of the Screw,” only to find that her own circumstances begin to reflect the strange happenings of the story.

I don’t believe ghosts exist, but a good ghost story will still creep the hell out of me. An intelligent and invisible tormentor is a frightening opponent, because they have every advantage against you. The only way to level the playing field is through death’s door. The last good ghost story I saw was The Orphanage; if you haven’t seen it, please treat yourself.

Kristen Dunst recently directed a short (Welcome) involving a ghost vs Winona and now she’ s the one who stands to confront the specters. I don’t know if I like the “what I am reading is turning into what is happening” angle, but I may be getting needlessly concerned.

No word yet on what this is slotted for release, but we will be sure to keep you posted.

  1. I’ve been trying to figure out just to myself what went wrong with Dunst. I used to love her in the days of ‘Drop Dead Gorgeous’ and the original ‘Spider-man’ (yeah i loved her in the first Spidey flick – judge me) and then something happened. Her personality started to change and I started to find her completely vapid and unlikeable, and I like everyone.
