Sandler’ s Shortcut

Adam Sandler-1It looks like Sandler inc. has decider to branch out into thriller territory. We get wind of this paradigm shift from our friends at comingsoon:

The Hollywood Reporter says Adam Sandler’s production company Happy Madison, known for its comedies, will produce a thriller titled Shortcut as the inaugural picture of a nascent genre label it’s calling Scary Madison.

The movie centers on two brothers who come upon a rarely used shortcut in their new town — and soon discover the reasons why it’s so rarely used. Andrew Seeley, Shannon Woodward and Dave Franco will star.

Production on this triller will begin next month and I am certainly curious to see if this team can pull it off. They are so entrenched in their own brand of comedy, that if they can in fact make a quality thriller – I will be impressed. If however, the movie ends up being a slapstick mockery of the genre, I can’t see anyone being terribly pleased.

Speaking of all things Sandler, my favorite film critic Alex Reynolds reviewed Don’t Mess With The Zohan this morning and gave it .5 stars out of 5. He hated the film (and said so right off the top). I still have to catch the picture, but Alex is my favorite critic because he has similar tastes to my own, and I trust his judgement.
