Feast Of Love Poster

I first heard about Feast of Love (not a great title) a while ago on one of my trips to Los Angeles. Sounds solid to me, and has a great ensemble cast with folks like Morgan Freeman, Greg Kinnear, Selma Blair, Fred Ward (He’ll always be Remo Williams to me) and Radha Mitchell. The synopsis looks like this:

“From venerable, multiple Academy Award winning director Robert Benton (Kramer vs. Kramer, Places in the Heart), comes a kaleidoscopic ode to love in all its funny, sad, sexy, crazy, heartbreaking and life sustaining facets. This thoroughly modern version of a Midsummer Night’s Dream erupts in a tight-knit Oregon neighborhood as local professor Harry Stevenson (Morgan Freeman) witnesses love whipping up mischief among the town’s residents — who include Greg Kinnear, Selma Blair, Radha Mitchell, Billy Burke, Alexa Davalos, Toby Hemmingway and Jane Alexander – all their stories intertwine into one remarkable romantic fable”

  1. i like the cast.yet it smacks of america trying to do Love Actually.
if so,bad fucking move on their part (though the automatons will prolly eat it up).

  2. I agree – the poster makes this look like a lot of ensemble romantic dramedies. But I LOVED the book by Charles Baxter, and if the movie comes close, I’ll be a happy guy in the theater.

  3. Love Actually is a FANTASTIC movie, and the last few shots of the airport people never fail to make me cry. This thing, I don’t know. Chick flicks usually make me hurl, but there are a few gems out there. Maybe this will be one of them. Maybe not.

  4. I would give the movie a chance simply for the cast. I don’t normally do that, but those are some strong actors. Although it runs the risk of having great acting in a poor movie.

  5. I’ve got a rule with romance movies like this one. If the poster has a lot of little rectangles with couples just staring at each other/embracing each other, I run (don’t walk!) to get as far away from it as possible! My rule has been broken for such surprisly good films like, Love Actually, whose poster looked like the ultimate “RUN AWAY!” of the season but actually was a great film in my opinion. However, I only watched it on DVD after my wife begged me to watch it with her.
