The Mummy 3 has found a leading lady in Maria Bello, we get the announcement from moviesonline:
Today its being reported that Maria Bello will replace Rachel Weisz in the upcoming Mummy 3: Curse of the Dragon. She will star along side Michelle Yeoh, Brendan Fraser and Jet Li. Rachel Weisz was offered a role and reportedly turned it down. Jet li will play the first emperor of china, and when Father and Son team unearth him they must not only fight him, but also his entire army of mummified warriors. Filming begins July 27th.
Bello is a delightfully delicious lady and it is good news for the Mummy franchise that she is on board. I now have one reason to see this movie, but I do not think it is enough to get me into the theater… I may buy the poster though.

This film sounds like a disaster in the making. Maria Bello sold herself out by agreeing to do this film and she is not even half as good an actress as Rachel Weisz. Rachel had enough sense to walk away from this film that has one of the worst directors working today (Rob Cohen) at the helm and one of the worst scripts written for a major film.

I could have handled it if they killed of Weisz’s character and brought in Bello’s but having her do the same role? Never a good idea in any movie franchise.
This sucks. Mummy 2 is one of my favorite popcorn flicks of all time. Great fun, great script. Rachel will be missed sorely.

I have no reason to see this film. Maria Bello is a horrible replacement for Rachel Weisz.
So Fraser’s character is going to have split from Weisz’s character then??
The article says she will replace Rachel, but will it be as “the new love interest” or will she be playing the same role?
Oded Fehr in it? NO? Arnold Vasloo? NO? Patricia Her Hotness Vasquez? Nope.
But now Maria Bello’s in it. Sounds liked they bribed me to see Mummy 3.

Yes, I am excited to see another Mummy movie. I had great fun watching the other two and can’t wait to see this one. I wanna see Jet Li do comedy or be involved in a comedic situation. For me the Mummy franchise is all about fun, comedy, and to not take the plot or anything else it throws at your seriously.
Maria Bello is a cool actress. However, the prospect of another Mummy flick is just groan-inducing, the movies are dumb (idiotic?) popcorn time-wasters. Let this corpse die and rot already!

It’ll be a renter. My only real issue is if they actually make Bello Evelyn, Weisz’s character. That’s just cheesey, which fits the bill for this franchise…

I really enjoyed the mummy movies, but i never went to see the first two in theaters and wont be seeing this one either. But i will probably end up renting or buying it….I dont really like the idea of them replacing Weisz charcter with someone else…..they should make Maria Bello a new charcter…..and just have Weisz charcter have a flashback of her dying or something……

You’re right but its still not good casting in my opinion. They should have written the character out instead.
I’m still not completely sold on another “Mummy” movie but I think Bello as a replacement is a pretty good fit. She’s no Weisz but they could have done much worse.

Maria Bello is a fine actress but she’s not Rachel Weisz.
The film sounds like a pure crapfest in the making.
I would go alone for Maria’s Bellos.
The Mummy is one of these action, special-effects, popcorn flicks i either go to the movies or never see it.
At home i would miss the whole experience.
