Brothers To Land Matt Damon and Sam Raimi?

BrothersWord is that Matt Damon is set to star and Sam Raimi close to committing to doing the remake of the Danish film “Brothers“. Personally I’d love to see these two guys work together. However… our good friends over at Moviehole give us this little synopsis… and it sound uncomfortably familiar:

“Brothers” tells the story of Michael, a chap who has everything under control: a successful military career, a beautiful wife and two daughters. His younger brother is a drifter, living on the edge of the law. When Michael is sent to Afghanistan on a UN mission the balance between the two brothers changes forever. Michael is missing in action – presumed dead – and his wife is comforted by the brother, who against all odds shows himself capable of taking responsibility for both himself and the family. It soon becomes clear that their feelings have developed beyond mutual sympathy. When Michael comes home, traumatized by being held prisoner in the mountains of Afghanistan, nothing is the same…

Umm… ok… now maybe I’m way off here… but wasn’t that pretty much exactly the same kind of senario in Pearl Harbor? Now granted, Affleck and Hartnett weren’t brothers in the movie… but aside from that isn’t it the same idea? Oh well, I haven’t seen the original version of the film, so perhaps it comes across as much different… but man it sounds a lot alike.

  1. This wasn’t Pearl Harbor, but will obviously become Pearl Harbor in order to make it palatable for american audiences.

I wasn’t a big fan of Brothers, so I don’t really care either way. I thought Pearl Harbor totally ripped of “While you were sleeping” with Bill Pullman though.

  2. you need to go see the original “Brothers” movie

and then you will see that it is NOTHING like Pearl Harbor

it IS true that the basic story might seem the same…but they are nothing alike

Brothers is an amazing film by a great director (the same woman that was nominated for “after the wedding” at the oscars this year)

so yeah…i agree that the basic story sounds the same…but other than that the two films couldn’t be more diferent
