Jeff Goldbum and Willem Dafoe will be starring in the new holocaust film Adam Resurrected by Paul Schrader. The people over at monstersandcritics.com tell us more:
Jeff Goldblum is cast in the lead, and Willem Dafoe will plays a concentration camp commandant in Holocaust survivor movie “Adam Resurrected” according to The Hollywood Reporter…The film is based on a novel written by Yoram Kanjuk.
There is a quality cast with this film and the plot sounds pretty interesting: It’s the story of a former circus clown named Adam Stein who dodged the gas chamber by entertaining Jews as they lined up for their deaths. Stein later ends up in an insane asylum populated by Holocaust survivors, where he becomes something of a ringleader for the patients.
I could be into this. I’m a big fan of both Dafoe and Goldblum and there is something about a film set in an insane asylum that is always appealing to me (yeah I know, I’m a weirdo). At this point there is an 80% chance of me seeing this film.
If I see the trailer and it looks like one big weepy, I’ll probably pass. It isn’t that I don’t like sad movies but I hate it when there is nothing but grief. If there is some fight and humor in this film (as often is the case with anything staring Dafoe) then I’ll definitely be buy some popcorn to go with my Kleenex.

Hmm, isn’t the first half of this film roughly the same as Jerry Lewis’ unreleasable “The Day the Clown Cried”? Apparently both are based on different books, though.
