  1. Only two things grabbed my attention:

*Sci-Fi channel asking the forces behind the new Galactica “re-imagining” (or, remaking, to be technical) Bionic Woman: the concept about taking the Government acency angle out of the story and just making Jamie strictly a teacher/a person with a “normal” life just with better hearing and an arm…domesticate her…em…yeck. I don’t think it’ll get past the pilot stage. Not much to worry about here.

*Bay producing remakes of movies that don’t need to be remade. Yeah, we knew all about the idea of bastardizing ‘The Hitcher’, but ‘Near Dark’? And Eric Red isn’t involved in either one? ‘Near Dark’ is a bit more trickier, I think, and remaking it is just that more stupid.

The first thing they’ll take out is the low budget inventiveness and surrealism (ex. time spent with vampires is a manipulation of time)
    Then…
    They’ll have fangs now.
There will be the word ‘vampire’ in the movie.
There will be winking to the audience.
They will drop the cowboy/western angle.
They will drop the Dracula /bloodletting angle.
The actor who plays Severen will go over the top as he tries to top Bill Paxton.
The actor who plays Jesse won’t have the same face as Lance Henriksen.
The actress who plays May will now be buff- and butt- naked.

Unless of course, they make it PG and kid friendly. Eek.

If these are not the changes, there’s no reason to remake it. Michael Bay is better off looking for good, unproduced horror/thriller scripts to develop. But then they’d be no “brand names” to exploit.

No, I fear ‘Near Dark: The Dummy’s Remake’ will be less about story and character and just be remade into another excerise of brainless entertainment where you leave your brain at the door, a proclomation of ‘being better than the first’ when it won’t be. The only thing that will happen is new intrest in the original- and how the new film with its rapid cutting MTV video style is nothing but wasted money, wasted time and the discovery that the original didn’t ask you to check the brain at the door. It invited you to bring it in.

  2. you thought the star trek stuff would go for more??
it went for double what the auction house expected…I saw it on the news and they were totally blown away by how well it went….

  3. campea..this is not related to any of your topics…but i thought you were crazy about your praise of justin long.

i just saw him in a film called “the sasquatch dumpling gang” and he is hilarious. Totally changed my view of him…..he is fucking great in it…

the whole film is great and I suggest seeing it when it comes out.
