A-Team Movie Still In The Works

Man, as a kid I just LOVED The A-Team. Imagine a show today about an elite military unit who could never actually hit anyone. But man, at the time it was pure gold… and it still is.

It was with great enthusiasm that I posted there would be an A-Team movie over 2 years ago, and since then it’s been pretty much silent. I was starting to wonder if the project was still even in the works. But then earlier today Nick from Empire wrote me to let me know about an article they have up about the A-Team movie and an interview with the creator of the show. Here are some of the tid bits from that interview:

“We were working on a script for a few years but I didn’t like it so it’s been thrown out,” he said.”We’ve gone through a lot of scripts that we haven’t been happy with for one reason or another. We had one script writer who had never even watched the show! The studio was adament about employing him but he just took the title and began to write anything he wanted, completely departing from the original show. The studio didn’t like it and neither did I.”

“I would like the original cast to play a part – to have their input into the movie and to star in cameo roles. As for who will play the new roles, I think Bruce Willis would make a good Hannibal!

It’s a great little article and you should go give it a read. Personally, I always thought George Clooney would make a great Hanniball Smith. But yeah, I could see Bruce Willis in that role too, and I LOVE the idea of giving cameo’s to the original cast. Maybe have Dirk Benedict as Conel Decker or something like that. I just hope it doesn’t turn into another Starsky and Hutch joke.

  1. Michael Clarke Duncan would be awesome as Mr. T but can’t they bring back Mr. T?

And George Clooney as Col. Decker? I’m so there.

This is what happens when children of the 80s become junior execs at movie studios.

Heck if they’re jumping on the remake train what about updates for Simon & Simon, Remington Steele and Scarecrow and Mrs. King?

  2. Although, I dont think Willis or Affleck would do it.

I think Ben is trying to have a career renaissance right now what with “Hollywoodland” and his directorial debut “Gone baby, Gone”

But I still stand by my choices

  3. Face-Man could be anyon from Matt Damon to Tom Cruise to Justin Timberlake .. as long as he has the whole pretty boy think going for him.

Ving Rhames would be a damned kool B.A but I don’t think he’d do it, I don’t think he’s want to be labled as Mr. T Wannabe .. I mean even in that Family Guy episode takeing the p*ss we had ..

    Mr. T by Mr. T
Mr. T & Me by George Peppard
For God’s Sake I’m Not Mr. T by Ving Rhames

Hannibal’s a tough one, personally, even with his current antics, I’d go with Mel Gibson

Murdoch – any of the nutters, Jim Carrey, I like the Jason Lee idea, Joe Pesci (maybe too old), how about Jon Heder (shine some light on his career)?

  4. I was going to say Clooney and Rhames (who would be a better fit than MCD imo)with possibly Jason Lee (clean shaven) as Murdock and Christian Bale as face (who obviously couldn’t do it).

    That would be fun.
