Saw 3

jigsaw puppet from SawWell is you saw the end of Saw 2, then you knew this was coming. It’s been officially announced that Saw 3 is on it’s way… and will be in theaters in time for Holloween of THIS YEAR (man they crank these things out fast).

The good folks over at CHUD give us the following:

The first two Saw movies proved exponentially profitable both theatrically and on DVD, so a third torture experiment isn’t a shock (we’ve been assured that it won’t be titled S3W, at least). Saw II director Darren Lynn Bousman is returning for the triple threat, with the original film’s team Leigh Whannell and James Wan working on the story.

According to the production company Twisted Pictures: “We believe that we are developing a script that is certain to please the Saw franchise’s core fans while adding fresh, terrifying and unimaginable new twists to the Saw saga. Jigsaw himself would be proud.”

I haven’t been thrilled with the Saw films yet… but at the same time I haven’t minded them either. As a matter of fact I’ve actually enjoyed the “twist” ended for both of them quite a bit. Still, I’d hardly call the Saw franchise a “horror tradition” just yet, even if they do release one every single Holloween.

  1. idk wat half u people were talkin about, the saw movies were the best. the endings were amazing, i never saw it comin.the only thing that was bad though was the acotors in the first one.

  2. Ok, the Saw movie’s are alright. But it’s kinda killing it with all these idiots saying “OMG, STFU I LIKE SAW ITS TEH BEST ROCKERSZ! LOLLOLOLOL!” I personally like mind boggling (spelling) thrillers, not so much gore. Even though Saw I+II were done pretty well. Personally, I think making a III’rd is just going to kill it.

  3. … okay, demented much? i truthfully wouldn’t want to see that irl… i liked saw & saw 2 but i’m not taking it as far as to say it was the best or anything. I personally like phycological thrillers more than the blood and gore stuff… (all though that does help ^^)

  4. The Saw films are even better if you carry out the actions seen in the film for real. If you watch someones head blow up using a bear bating mask, you will be entertained.

  5. u all need to stfu the saw’s r the best movies ever hands down and if u dont like them, then go kill urself

    WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO??????????????????

    MIKE JONESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  6. I CANNOT BELEIVE YOU DONT LIKE THE SAW FILMS. THEY ARE BOTH AS GOOD AS EACH OTHER. OK THEY CAN BE A BIT CONFUSING AT SOME TIMES BUT IF U WATCH IT AGAIN EVERYTHING BECOMES CLEAR. THE ENDING ARE BRILLIANT!!! THEY ARE BOTH UNPREDICTABLE AND NEW. THE WHOLE FILM IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THAN OTHER SHIT HORROR FILMS LIKE THE DESCENT AND THE FOG.

THEY HAVE GREAT IDEAS AND CAN’T WAIT TO WATCH SAW 3.

  7. I HAVE SEEN BOTH SAW MOVIES AND I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT THEY ARE VERY GOOD. OFCOURSE THE FIRST MOVIE WAS THE BEST! BUT I WANT TO LET EVERYBODY KNOW , I JUST HAVE SEEN THE MOVIE : HOSTEL !(what a garbage)!!! ONLY THE LAST HALF HOURS MAKES IT GOOD A LITTLE BIT ! IT IS NOTHING COMPARED TO THE MOVIE SAW I AND SAW II ! i just say : FUCK YOU : QUENTIN TARANTINO!!! i can’t wait to see SAW III !!!

  8. “in light of all the horror film remakes and numerous sequels, the release of the original “Saw” was refreshing”

It might’ve been if only David Fincher hadn’t made “Se7en” nearly a decade earlier.

I watched the first “Saw” for the first time just the other day, as it happens. I clearly hadn’t missed anything by waiting so long to see it. No interest whatsoever in further installments now.

  9. Wow, tough crowd:

I dunno. I enjoyed both films quite a bit. You have to admit; in light of all the horror film remakes and numerous sequels, the release of the original “Saw” was refreshing. I mean, we ended up with a new and original thriller that was loaded with things we haven’t seen before in horror movies.

I don’t know what else you could ask for when i’ve just seen the remake “The Fog.” Jeesh…

Saw and Saw II are both original and quite entertaining. I don’t know what else you can ask for when Hollywood continues to feed us a bunch of crap we’ve seen before.

  10. ” As a matter of fact I’ve actually enjoyed the “twist” ended for both of them quite a bit.”

I feel sorry for you, John.

While the first film, told in non-linear, still had a bit of suspense in it The surprise was justthat, although it didn’t make any sense. In the sequel, the question is answered (accomplice) but that twist (which, by the way, isn’t a spolier seeing how Saw 3 is underway) made Saw II ten times worse than it was. I felt the idea of it, and the suspense that made the first movie work, was all but gone in the sequel.

The ‘accomplice/protoge’ twist (again, I’m not giving much away, seeing how the premise for 3 has to revolve around the character to some degree) does not hold up in the film. I was extremely confused by the revelation, until I called it for what it was- filmmakers who think they are clever but really aren’t. The twist, if you will, destroys whatever plot they had.
