Watchmen saved? No.

Watchmen2.jpgAfraid not. We had been hearing the news that Warner Brothers had picked Watchmen up from the horrible (and quite frankly stupid) dropping by Paramount, but now we are hearing that the creatives involved are all gone from the project.

Yahoo carried the news story about it’s past. We already talked about the dropping, and also the rumours of the Warner Brothers purchase, well now it looks like it’s a done deal and there’s been more culling. Empire has the news.

Watchmen, is without a director and writer after its move from Paramount to Warner Bros.

The project has kept its producers Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin, but director Paul Greengrass and writer David Hayter are no longer with the project.

Short, sweet and very disappointing. There’s some good news though, if you think about it WB’s parent company Time Warner own DC Comics who published the original novel, so there’s a thin ray of light there. There’s also the chance that WB actually want to do it right, and that the previous attempt was good but just not fitting enough. However commercial concerns win over for me, if Vendetta fails flat then we can assume that Watchmen is not going to see light for a while.
