Scary Movie 4 is upon us all in April (oh joy). I’ll admitt right up front I haven’t really enjoyed ANY of the scray movie films up to this point. Personally I’ve found them all to be totally usleless, stupid, not funny, predictable (the jokes) and more aimed for the 12 year old audience. It’s actually beyond me how anyone who can like REAL comedy movies like Wedding Crashers or The 40 Yer Old Virgin can also enjoy the type of drivel that the Scary Movie franchise has been dishing out on us. Oh well… it’s all subjective.
A number of teaser posters for Scary Moive 4 have been released, and I actually like them. They’re all pretty creative in spoofing the posters from other well known films (included SAW, War of the Worlds and others). I really like that one on the left from SAW. You can’t read the text on the image I have here, but the caption is “THE SCARIEST MOVIE YOU EVER SAWED”. Hey, give credit where credit is due.
Is it enough to make me at all interested in a Scary Movie 4? No chance in hell. But they are creative posters… I’ll give them that.

I like the humor and tradition that these movies follow. Scary Movie was alright, Scary Movie 2 sucked, and Scary Movie 3 deserved it’s own “!” at the end of the title; 3 was the best so far. David Zucker basically saved the franchise with the Airplane! tradition humor. I love these films, Hot Shots! and Loaded Weapon are my favs.
I’ve heard rumor that Zucker is coming out with a new “!” film titled Superhero!, and that it will mainly be spoofing Batman Begins.
I enjoyed Wedding Crashers and The 40 year old Virgin, it is possible to like both them and the Scary Movie franchise(2 never happened). Everyone has their own taste in movies, some tastes are a little more scewed and/or disturbing than others but you can’t help what you like and don’t like.
I just hope Scary Movie 4 can dish out more of the tradition Scary Movie 3 followed. Another appearance by Charlie Sheen would also be nice. I’m just hoping this isn’t another Scary Movie 2….
