MTV Is A Little Confused

I won’t go into the whole “MTV is suffering from a massive identity crisis” speech that everyone in the world seems to be saying already… but I just found this one really funny…

Ok, you all know how much I HATE HATE HATE it when non-actors are given big roles in movies. It’s a slap in the face to those pepole who are REAL actors and have worked for years… and sometimes DECADES to develop their craft and art. Not to mention it’s a slap in the face of movie fans who are then subjected to inferior performances.

So anyway, MTV puts up a rather interesting article called “When Non-Actors Act We All Suffer“. A title and article for which I totally agree with… but here’s the thing…

ISN’T THIS THE SAME COMPANY (MTV) THAT IS PUTTING OUT “GET RICH OR DIE TRYIN'” STARRING 50 “Non-Actor” CENT!?!?!

Give me a break.

  1. Just wondering what you guys think of stand up comedians acting in major roles. As far as television, Jerry Seinfeld is definitely not an actor (he’s actually pretty bad at it), but he did really well on the show and was of course majorly accepted. Also Larry David in Curb Your Enthusiasm, Tom Green…one of the best examples of non-actors acting well in an awesome movie is Incident At Lochness in which actual hollywood professionals (Werner Herzog (Director) Zak Penn (Writer: X2, Last Action Hero, among others) act fairly well and maintain a confusingly realistic mockumentary. If musical performers aren’t welcome on the screen, how far do you draw the line?
