The Eye 2 remake!

TheEyePoster.jpgI really can’t believe this, not only are Hollywood remaking every good Asian film out there, but they’re also remaking sequels! The Eye is already being remade from the original Jian gui, from Coming Soon:

Gold Circle Films and Vertigo Entertainment are teaming to produce In-Utero, a remake of Hong Kong horror film Jian Gui 2 (“The Eye 2”). New Line has picked up domestic distribution rights, says Variety.

A U.S. remake of the original pic, which had a completely separate plot, is in development with Vertigo at Paramount.

The film is about a pregnant woman who has a near-death experience that results in her seeing dead spirits. Screenwriter Todd Stein has been set to adapt.

Now don’t get confused with the plot being totally different from the first, as far as I know the literal translation of Jian gui is “seeing ghosts”, not “The Eye”, so that fits much better. (Apologies for no credit as to the site I read that, I really can’t remember!)

Still, why can’t they leave well enough alone? Oh, and if they’re rewriting the plot to The Eye, are they doing that with the sequel too? It’s madness!
