Austin Powers 4?

AustinPowers.jpgIn a world of sequels there is most definitely one I can say I would look forward to…well there’s a few actually, but this is probably the top…well, near it…okay, on with it!

Mike Myers wants to create another Austin Powers outing and suggests that the timing is getting near, especially considering there is going to be a new Bond…possibly…sometime…From Entertainment Weekly through Coming Soon:

“There is hope!” says Myers about the popular comedy franchise. “We’re all circling and talking to each other. I miss doing the characters.” The first three films have earned a massive $675 million worldwide, so New Line Cinema is probably looking forward to another installment as well – and what better time than with a new James Bond movie on the way?

That’s a lot of money and in the Entertainment Industry that’s what counts. Although the entertainment is secondary you just know we’d be in for bags of it with another Powers outing. There would have to be an in joke about him being replaced with a younger, harder, more rugged, and blond replacement!

  1. i cant wait for the next movie, it was bloody hilarious when fat bastard first appeared! “Get in my belly!” My favourite of the 3 is the 2nd, then 1st. I didn’t like the 3rd as much, but it had some good parts.. mole.. moley, moley, moley.

  2. I just wanted to say to the person who commented that the product placement was bad. You HAVE NO SENSE OF HUMOUR!!! IT WAS ONLY AN ADDITIONAL JOKE IN THE MOVIE. Sure those products did get placements but he was only doing it to get a laugh. Lots of movies have product placements and in the old times it was all over the place. He is merely making another statement about how it used to be.

Anyhow, I am looking forward to a new Austin Powers because unlike other people’s comments I loved all the films, the only thing i did not like was “Foxxy Cleopatra” she was too much…

You have to love the peeing statue scene it was great.

  3. You can’t blame the producers to not bring this film out. It is a very good investment, certainly with the new Bond coming up. And let’s not forget that Austin Powers is one of the rare franchise where the sequels get a bigger box-office each time.

    Do I love, well…I don’t hate it.

  4. Gotta say as much as I want original ideas and as much as Goldmember went astray I will still pay the seven or eight bucks to see another. It’s like candy for the brain. Hate to admit it but I will go see another no matter how bad it is.

  5. No more Austin Powers. Did anyone notice all the product placement in the second movie? I thought I was watching t.v.. Everything was in there– Heiniken, Starbucks, Volkswagen and AOL. Why the hell is Austin Powers using AOL when he’s living in England?

I didn’t even bother with Goldmember because I felt like I was rapped with advertisements by the previous movie.

  6. I agree that AP is basically played out. The original Austin Powers was a great film though. I think many of the references to old 60’s films such as A Hard Days Night, Blow Up and original Bond spoof Casino Royale went over most peoples heads.

Austin Powers and Doctor Evil were great characters. Then we had the likes of Fat B*st**d and it all went downhill.

  7. Myers needs to bring it back down to the first movies charm and style. Now, the second and third films were funny, but I had to watch them both over a second time to really enjoy it; because the second created a mile wide gap between what the first movie was and what the second movie is, and the gap widened with Goldmember.

Very funny though, I love these movies! I remember watching an interview with Mike Myers a year or two ago, and when he was asked about the possibility of a 4th Austin Powers flick, he jokingly said hes getting breast implants. lol, a 4th movie would be great, I love the characters Myers creates, it would be awsome and ever so hilarious to see him playing another new chacter or maybe even two, that would make like 5 different people to play.

  8. I even faked a laugh when I saw the 2nd Austin Powers movie, I asked myself, why am I not laughing, everybody thinks it’s funny, there must be something wrong with me. LOL

  9. The second was so-so, but the third was terrible, except for a very few moments. I wish they would just end it here. Or at least choose another writer – Myers seems to have run out of gas.

  10. I’m with the first comment. I loved the first film, but the second and particularly the third were tired. I think Mike Myers is excellent, but wish he would stick to more original projects, like the excellent So I Married an Axe Murderer. There’s also a danger he’ll “over expose” himself and people will get bored of him, although it’s been quite a gap since his last live action film.

  11. O.K., first and foremost, I am a fan of the Austin Powers flicks. That being said, I cant say that I have a whole lot of faith in a fourth installment delivering the same “Mojo” that gave the films their charm. Let’s face it, “Goldmember” was on the border of being “played out”. Although I found myself laughing, the recycled jokes and celebrity cameos had my eyes rolling. I think if Mike Myers can succeed in making us laugh again without piggybacking on the success of the previous films, I think a fourth movie would be just “Groovy”.
