Jessica Alba out of Fantastic Four?

JessicaAlba.jpgHardly. However the rumour is flying around the Internet that she’s looking not to appear in the next Fantastic Four movie but to pass it up for the I Dream of Jeannie movie. The story is over at Rope of Silicon clipping a story from the New York Post:

A sequel to this year’s Fantastic Four is in the works, and the original stars are set to reprise their superhero roles – except for Jessica Alba…the sexy starlet is uncertain the follow-up would be a judicious career move. Instead, we hear Alba has agreed to star alongside Jimmy Fallon in the movie remake of the classic sitcom, I Dream of Jeannie. She’ll get to show a lot more skin than Barbara Eden, who was forced by censors to cover her navel. Alba declined to comment.

That last part “Alba declined to comment” has me thinking they tried to talk to her but just didn’t get a call back, not that they got in touch with her and she actually said, “I decline to comment.”

The last paragraph from Brad over at the site is spot on, and he goes on to point out the news we’ve heard to date, all the stars are signed for sequels, signed. Now that means they have to do it unless there is someway to break the contract without harming the franchise, and that’s not going to happen. Anyway, Kate Hudson anyone? She’s listed as playing the lead on IMDB.

I don’t think this is anything more than runour. There’s nothing to say that they couldn’t arrange filming this around the Fantastic Four sequels, but a move from that to Jeannie? Is that the better move?

  1. Jessica Alba is such a babe! If there is any truth to her playing Jeannie than I can wait to see her in the outfit and acting all ditsy and cute. Now Jimmy Fallon I’m not so sure about. I’m not exactly sold on him being a leading comedic talent. But the news about Alba is great.

The rumor is that she’s commited to both and that she reportedly beat out Kate Hudson, Alicia Silverstone, and Lindsay Lohan for the role.

Also raising much ire: Director Gurinder Chadha [“Bend it Like Beckham”] is believed to be interested in telling the character’s backstory and examining her roots. “She’s a Muslim girl, and the story is about Muslims.”
