The rumour machine is working overtime just now on the X-Men 3 Director replacement. Just as Matthew Vaughn stepped off the jet and onto British soil once again the Directors were being banded around.
Before we go on, here’s a quick heads up. There’s a couple of plot revelations in the source story link, no character names, but big plot events, so if you don’t want to see it, don’t go. The jist of the story is here and I’ll post the spoiler story later.
Comic Book Movie had the story from Ain’t it cool news talking about who could be the next Director, and if it’s true, it looks like it’s the choice isn’t that great. John Moore (Flight of the Pheonix) or Brett Ratner?
The site claims that the director’s position may go to John Moore (“Behind Enemy Lines” and “Flight of the Phoenix”) or to Brett Ratner (“Rush Hour” films, “After the Sunset”, and “Red Dragon”).
What do you think? Is there a good choice in there after all?

I have to agree w/ Jason. Brett Ratner’s a pretty good director. he hasn’t made any truly horrible movies. He’d probably be my second (reasonable) choice with Alex Proyas my first choice.
I’d be happy for Proyas. More than happy in fact.
I knwo this isnt going to be popular but I like Brett ratner. If you have ever watched the extra’s on his DVD’s….he is in love with his job. He took a bad script in Rush Hours and made it watchable. Dino D thought enough of him to let him do Red Dragon….Go ahead and bash me but he may be a popcorn director but he is a far cry better than Paul Anderson. Truthfully….it dosent matter who they get to direct it…..that movies starts shooting in 9 weeks and Fox is pushing to get it done….so any director is going to be pushed to the wall…..I think he will make a fine film…not great or terribly memorable….but it is what it is.
As has been mentioned on Twitchfilm and AICN…the best choice here is probably Alex “Dark City” Proyas.

To me the director choices are terrible. Considering also that the writers are Simon Kinberg (xXx: State of the Union) and Zak Penn (Elektra) this looks even worse. After reading what AICN revealed about the plot…
