True Lies 2

Arnie.jpgThis has me excited. I’m a huge fan of big action flicks, the have to fun, the have to have the right level of humour or none at all, and above all they have to be about beating insurmountable odds. That’s why I love Arnie movies so much, from The Terminator and Predator, he had me hooked. I knew who he was before then of course, during my mad gym phase I trained with bodybuilders and that guy was idolised by the majority.

So it’s wonderful news to hear that he’s going to be returning to the big screen. The BBC have him reprising his role in the fantastic True Lies with James Cameron directing.

Currently the rest of the cast is yet to be secured, I seriously hope they manage to get both Tom Arnold and Jamie Lee Curtis, with an on screen visit by the superb Bill Paxton.

Oh joys, what could be better? Still, politics are set to interfere no matter what:

Wary of offending post-9/11 sensibilities, Cameron is promising “a James Bond type film and not a pre-terrorist action film” – whatever that is.

Fine, just stop the talking and get the casting going! Who is in for this? Politics aside, wouldn’t it be great to see Arnie back in a great action flick from Cameron, and what an excellent choice for him, True Lies had excellent cast chemistry and was just so much fun.

  1. I like the cast and the way it was written. If you follow the same pattern writing this one then it can’t fail. The majority of the time i find that where the writers make mistakes is that they write a really good show and then they try to improve on it. It’s been my experience, “If it’s not broken, don’t fix it”.

  2. Isn’t Arnold the current governor of California? Also, it’s fairly obvious that Arnold has further political ambitions which would interfere with his film career.

  3. I cant take all the credit. Its the training.

Still my favourite non-sci-fi action flick ever.

I would love to see more, but we will see how it goes when its all done, if at all.

If they cant get the original cast to support Arnie, then it will suck no matter how good of a plot they come up with.

  4. `Personally I would love to see this. THe origina had me hooked form the beginning, don’t get me wrong, every arnold flick had me hooked from the beginning, but the combination of casting, action and comedy made this movie perfect. And who could resist one more run in between Arnold and Bill Paxtons international man of mystery.

  5. IF this rumor is true then it’s still years off….and that’s IF he doesn’t get re-elected as CA’s governor (and it’s likely he won’t).

  6. I can’t get too excited about this because there has been talk of a True Lies 2 for years. I recall Tom Arnold being on a talk show about 2 years ago talking about it.

It would be cool, but I’m not buying into it until production starts.

  7. I think Arnold wants to be President too much to go to full-time acting, his buddies are already campaigning to get the constitution changed.

Though if he goes back to movies and the rumors are true he may be one of Tarantino’s bastards as well.

  8. You have to give Arnie his just desserts, because lets face it how many people keep their promises like the big man? What am i talking about? come on… how many times has he said he’ll be back, he ain’t kidding.

Personally i think he’s passed it, he must have had any number of speeching/public speaking tutors and trainers which have spoiled him.

If we could have the Arnie from Conan then I would be jumping for joy, however we will get a “I need to be careful of how i sound, am portrayed and what people think of the movie”, in otherwords a watered down, on the fence piece of crap.

  9. Oh man I hope this is true…. but I have a hard time believing it. I can’t belielive that Arnold has no furthur political plans for himself. Not to mention he’s about 80 pounds lighter than he was in the first true lies (which I totally LOVED)

    We’ll see I guess.
