Mark Wahlberg planning documentary

MarkWahlberg.jpgMark Whalberg is branching into the realms of Michael Moore with his next venture. According to the Guardian, he will be venturing into the land of documentary making, touching on the US Judicial system. They say he is…

…planning a documentary about Shyne, an American rapper serving a 10-year sentence for his role in a shooting at a New York club – an incident made famous because P Diddy and J-Lo were there. Wahlberg is set to examine the US judicial system, and contrast Shyne’s fortunes with his own: as a teenager, he himself was jailed for 45 days for attacking a Vietnamese immigrant.

Certainly sounds interesting, and he will be able to put a lot of personal experience into the movie, which is always a major driving factor for any successful documentary. The question is, how much behind the camera experience has he captured from his previous movies? He’s obviously had a varied base of movies. It will be interesting if he can pull it off, as an actor I rate both him and Donnie Wahlberg quite highly.

  1. That’s the funny thing. Both brothers are pretty decent actors (check out the series Boomtown, now on DVD, which featured Donnie), yet they were both terrible as recording artists/performers, regardless of how you feel about the boy band or pop rapper genres.

Maybe terrible pop stars have a decent shot at acting (Jessica and Ashlee Simpson?? :-o ), and it’s those who are better as pop stars who make terrible actors.
