As a kid, I LOVED this show. As an adult, I’ve watched a couple of late night re-runs and discovered it was actually pretty sucky. However, a return to Hazzard was an escape I was ready to welcome… UNTIL.
WHY on earth can’t studios get this simple little fact through their pea sized little brains: “Real actors make for MUCH better films overall”. As soon as I heard that Johnny Knoxville and Jessica Simpson had been cast in the movie, any form of hope I had went right out the window. Don’t get me wrong, Johnny is pretty funny on his own, and say all you want about Jessica, but the woman can sing. However… THEY ARE NOT ACTORS. Did you see Knoxville in Men in Black 2?!?! Good Grief he was awful!
Now, at the same time I actually don’t mind Seann William Scott. The guy has been in some horrible movies, but really when you just looks at his performance he usually holds his own pretty well. This movie has disaster written all over it. Anyway, heres a little pic I found floating around the web to share with you all. Jess looks pretty… ummmm… I guess that’ll be their marketing strategy.
i think it was a pretty good movie. i know i laughed my ass off in certain parts!! jessica simpson WASN’T that bad!! give her a break! and i recon knoxville and sean william scott were really good in that movie, it might not be the same or even come close to the original one,but us younger people have never seen the original show so we have nothing to compare it to. so therefore i think it was a really good movie.

I am not going to see this movie. The trailer shows the General Lee without the Flag. I also read that their is a version of the script that has the flag on the car then a gang paints over it with “black power” and Bo likes it. I think this is repulsive. I am certain from watching the trailer and reading critic reviews that this movie will be nothing like the original t.v. show. Only now a tainted memory…
I wouldnt have seen the movie if the flag were not on top of the General Lee, but I can assure all of you that it is there, I saw a show about the making of it and it’s very much the same car as in the show.
I do imagine they had one heck of a debate in Hollywood because usually they just go along with the pc elite. I also agree with Bob Matthew’s post above. In our culture of “tolerance and diversity” everyone is allowed to have pride except whitey — all we’re allowed to do is apologize for being white.
I love the TV series and own all that have been sold on DVD, but I agree Cooter’s view on the film. I think everyone should boycott it.

I think the idea is cool but they are goig about it all wrong. Burt reynolds is definetly wrong for the boss hogg part,Danny devito looks and acts the part(a fat short ignorant and sharp tongue prick) i think it would work. Jerry reed should play rosoe cause hes a smartalec adn basicly looks right.Oh yea i thought the dukes were poor,if so why the hell is daisy driving a brand new $25,000 rubicon?? yea good point.Last but not least bo and luke,why did they pick the 2 people made famous by being idiots? bo and luke were not idiots. Hey. when is the trailer for this movie coming out. Most of the time you usually see a trailer 6 months before the movie comes out but there is only about 4 months till this comes out.

As long as the General Lee is an orange ’69 Charger with the confederate flag on the roof…I’m pretty much okay with it. That car was the star anyway.

M.C. Gainey as Rosco…I love Mr. Gainey’s work, but he’s a large, imposing man and Rosco was anything but imposing. It will be interesting to see how Mr. Gainey plays Rosco. Is Rosco going to be a tough guy now?
My only major concern is Simpson turning the character of Daisy into a ditsy bimbo with no class.
i have followed dukes since it started been to dukesfest and collect all toys,etc, theyll never do the original show justice but we cant stop hollywood from screwing up a good thing so ill see it any way. im one of the people who understood the show and it lives on in my heart daily. long live dukes!

I guess DAISEY will be a blond!!?? They could have picked MUCH better cast. Nothing in my opinion is going to be as good as the orginial. They would have been better off to use the orginal Bo and Luke even though they are older now?!!!

I don’t have any thing against Jessica Simpson, She’s a very pretty woman, But I do hope she’ll have brown hair in the movie, because if you are going to remake a popular tv show such as the Dukes of Hazzard you need to make it as close as possiable to the real show.
I’m not putting down sean or jonny, but paul walker would have been the best pick for bo duke. Paul has been made into a wheelman with the last few movies he made. bo duke was a great wheelman in the show. Jonny is crazy, does stupid things an luke was smart an could rig up anything. I’m all for the movie though cuz there filming the boars nest 5 mins for my house! an it was my favorite show when i was a kid.

Living in Baton Rouge where all mechanical aspects of the production takes place, we tend to get glimpses of all the stuff. The flag IS on the car. The name is STILL the General Lee. After seeing the set, or where all the cars are worked on, I can say that you have NOTHING to worry about. And I have all the pictures to prove it.
Hi I hope its not true either that the confederate flag wont be placed on the general if they are gonna do the movie right put the flag on the car and leave it the hell aloan to many people are complaining about racism get real the boys of hazzard were not racist they put the flag on the car and that is were it needs to be if they dont put the flag on the car I wont see the movie and will protest it who is with me political corectness can just eat my rebel dust:)
I hope this is not true and if it is we will all boycott this movie. I heard that they are going to remove the confederate flag from the top of the car and rename the General Lee. This country is going to the pits. We could have naacp this and black pride that and black miss america, ect,ect,ect but God forbid you show a rebel flag or show some White Pride, even though the show in the early 80’s had the flag on it. Isn’t it ironic that Burt Reynolds is starring in this, and as Boss Hogg, when Dukes was obviously inspired by his Smokey & The Bandit movies?
