Someone shoot me. This is so stupid it almost defies imagination. The good folks over at Digital Spy report the following:
Eminem is planning to play a suave spy in a James Bond-style movie, according to the Daily Record. The rapper apparently wants to concentrate on his acting career following the success of his 8 Mile film. A friend of the star revealed, “He has this great idea for a spy thriller. He’s hoping to get a script together. He says it’s 007 with attitude.”
Why do big music stars convince themselves that they belong on the big screen?!?! Hey Eminem, you’re a rapper… a pretty good one too. So make your records, make your money, shut up, and let the acting be done by the people who have devoted their lives to the craft and can actually do it. Oh yeah, and as far as the idea of a “007 with attitude” goes… well it was already done. It was called XXX.
My first reaction was some people should just die. I rethought my stance though and realized, the truth is it probably wouldn’t be as bad as the last Bond movie. I liked Brosnan enough but the director and story, well might as well have starred M&M.

In 8 Mile he played HIMSELF. How hard could that be? He couldn’t carry a XXX-type movie if tried. Yech. This bit of news made me ill.
And would people stop invoking the words “Bond” and “007” every time they describe their next action movie?
