Craven’s 25/8 is now titled My Soul to Take

Wes Craven’s new Horror project 25/8 has outgrown the “working title” stage and has finally come public with the real title.

My Soul to Take.

Collider shares:

Wes Craven broke the news of the title change on his Twitter page, where he mentions that “25/8″ was always just a working title for the film. It stars Max Thierot, Denzel Whitaker, and Shareeka Epps with Thierot as the lead character who is possibly being stalked by his serial killer father sixteen years after his death.

That last part sounds confusing but I have to assume they mean he is being stalked by his serial killer father he thought was dead 16 years ago.

Obviously the phrase was taken from the bedtime prayer, “Now I lay me down to sleep” which returns Craven to the theme of sleeping in his horror films.

Originally the 25/8 was a reference to the 25th of August, a common trait of the killer’s victims – their birthday and the date the serial killer was put to rest. But now word has it that they will not be addressing the date at all in the film.

I want to have faith in Wes Craven and hearing him working on an original slasher flick makes me curious to see if he can get another hit.

  1. Wrong.

That’s not what the 25/8 title referred to.

The original title once referred to a line in the film where someone says that if you fight the devil 24/7, it’s not enough — you have to fight him “25/8.” The term is apparently not used in the film anymore, so they opted to change the title.

    1. The source article says “A brief plot synopsis on imdb mentions a killer going back to terrorize seven children that share a common birthday” and that they are not focusing on that at all anymore.

Other sources say “It tells the story of an alleged dead serial killer who returns to kill the seven children who were born on the day he was killed fifteen years ago.”

“Fight the devil 25/8” makes no sense and no source agrees with you.

      Not wrong.

      1. Craven himself saying specifically that 25/8 was ALWAYS a working title and never intended to be the the final title.

The line was removed from the movie, but was never intended to be the title. It was a placekeeper. Not changed because some line was removed.

  2. Craven pretty much lost me after Cursed. Damn that movie was horrible. It’s amazing how horrible that movie was and I still cannot believe I payed money to see that. But dammit all to hell, this has me curious. Curse you Craven! CURSE YOU!!!!
