The AAA Latin American Championship has been officially vacated. AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio made the announcement during the latest episode of WWE AAA on FOX, following an injury sustained by former champion El Hijo del Vikingo.
Vikingo suffered the injury last Tuesday while preparing for a match against EK Prosper on NXT. The scheduled contest was subsequently cancelled. With the title now vacant, the promotion is looking toward the rest of the roster to determine the next champion.
The vacancy occurred after a segment where Dorian Roldan attempted to crown Omos as the new champion. Mysterio intervened, forcing Omos to relinquish the belt so it could be officially vacated. While Omos remains a potential candidate to hold the gold, other names have emerged as possibilities for the vacant championship.
Potential Contenders for the Title
Damian Priest has already staked his claim to the championship via a video appearance following his recent debut for the promotion. Given his weekly presence on SmackDown, putting the title on Priest could provide significant exposure for the belt. Other emerging names include Galeno Del Mal, who has been picking up momentum in recent weeks, and Axiom, who has previously appeared for the promotion.
The newly revived Los Perros del Mal faction also presents a candidate in Daga, who has taken on a leadership role within the group. Additionally, Laredo Kid has been mentioned as a potential replacement following his recent turn to the dark side during his rivalry with Rey Fenix. As the promotion moves forward, the vacant title remains a focal point for the roster.
