Michael Douglas Returns to Acting for Oliver Stone’s White Lies

After stepping away from acting last year, Michael Douglas is officially returning to the screen. The veteran actor has joined the cast of White Lies, the latest project from acclaimed filmmaker Oliver Stone.

Douglas previously indicated he had no immediate plans to return to work after a career spanning nearly six decades. He noted in 2025 that he had been working purposefully to avoid the exhaustion of a constant production schedule. However, the opportunity to collaborate with Stone once again proved to be the catalyst for his return.

A Longtime Creative Partnership

The project marks a reunion for the pair, who previously worked together on the 2010 film Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. That film served as a sequel to the 1987 classic Wall Street, which earned Douglas an Academy Award for Best Actor.

Stone has described White Lies as a personal story focused on human relationships. The production has already wrapped principal photography, with filming taking place across various locations in Europe and Asia. While the film is now in the can, an official release date has not yet been announced.

The Cast of White Lies

Beyond Douglas, the film features a notable ensemble cast. Joining him in the project are Willem Dafoe, Ellen Barkin, and Homer Gere. The film is produced by Fernando Sulichin, Maximilien Arvelaiz, and Jordan Gertner, with Tarak Ben Ammar, Gianluca Leurini, and Jose Luis Manzano serving as executive producers.

For fans of the actor, this return is a welcome surprise. It highlights the enduring professional bond between Douglas and Stone, a relationship that has produced some of the most memorable performances in modern cinema history.
