Netflix WWE Monday Night Raw: Brock Lesnar Meets Oba Femi

WWE’s Monday Night Raw rolled into San Antonio on March 16 with major developments on the road to WrestleMania 42. The night featured the returns of Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar, AJ Lee’s first Women’s Intercontinental Championship defense since winning the title at Elimination Chamber, and another successful Intercontinental Championship defense for Penta.

Seth Rollins Opens Raw as Brock Lesnar Returns

Seth Rollins opened the show with a message for The Vision. Paul Heyman interrupted, appearing bruised and shaken, before calling on Brock Lesnar. Lesnar entered and cleared out Rollins’ masked associates, leaving the former world champion alone in the ring.

Before Lesnar could go further, Oba Femi made his way to the ring. Femi planted Lesnar with a powerbomb and then pointed at the WrestleMania 42 sign, creating a major moment early in the broadcast.

Original El Grande Americano vs. El Grande Americano

The rivalry between the Original El Grande Americano and his impostor continued in singles action. The Original controlled much of the match and fought off interference from Bravo. Rayo later slid the metal plate into Americano’s mask. When the Original came off the top rope with a headbutt, he struck the loaded mask. Americano capitalized with a roll-up for the win.

Result: El Grande Americano defeated the Original El Grande Americano

Women’s Intercontinental Championship: AJ Lee vs. Bayley

AJ Lee defended the Women’s Intercontinental Championship against Bayley in a match that had major WrestleMania implications. Bayley pushed the champion throughout and came close to winning after hitting the Bayley-to-Belly.

Lee recovered and trapped Bayley in the Black Widow to force the submission and retain the title. After the match, Becky Lynch attacked Lee near the stage and left the champion laid out.

Result: AJ Lee defeated Bayley to retain the Women’s Intercontinental Championship

Intercontinental Championship: Penta vs. Dragon Lee

Penta issued an open challenge that was answered by Dragon Lee. The two luchadors delivered a fast-paced title match filled with counters, aerial offense, and near falls. Dragon Lee connected with Enter the Dragon, but Penta survived.

Late in the match, Penta avoided Lee’s next attack and delivered the Mexican Destroyer to retain the Intercontinental Championship.

Maxxine Dupri vs. Natalya

Natalya continued her rivalry with Maxxine Dupri and controlled the action from the start. Dupri struggled to mount offense as Natalya kept the pressure on. The match ended when Natalya applied the Sharpshooter and forced the submission.

Result: Natalya defeated Maxxine Dupri via submission

Stephanie Vaquer vs. Raquel Rodriguez

Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer faced Raquel Rodriguez, who had Liv Morgan at ringside. Rodriguez used her power advantage to take control for stretches of the match, but Vaquer battled back and hit Devil’s Kiss.

Iyo Sky arrived to neutralize Morgan at ringside, though Rodriguez sent Sky crashing over the announce table. Back in the ring, Vaquer caught Rodriguez with a roll-up to score the win.

Result: Stephanie Vaquer defeated Raquel Rodriguez

Roman Reigns and CM Punk Go Face to Face

Roman Reigns and CM Punk met in the show’s closing segment. Reigns mocked Punk and took several personal shots at the World Heavyweight Champion. Punk answered back and refused to let Reigns walk away from the confrontation.

The segment ended when Punk struck Reigns with a right hand, forcing officials and producers to separate the two men as the show came to a close.
