Yellowjackets Cast Say Goodbye, Pay Tribute On Social Media

Anyone that truly knows me knows that Yellowjackets is my favorite piece of media to ever exist. So to say that these past few days have made me emotional would be a gigantic understatement. In February of this year, the cast and crew began filming the fourth and final season, and fast-forward to now, and it seems as though a good chunk of the cast members have wrapped filming and have left the wilderness for good.

Seeing these social media posts has made me get very teary-eyed, knowing that this really is the end. Of course, we’ve known for quite a while now that the upcoming fourth season would be the series’ last, but for myself and I think for many other fans out there, it hasn’t quite hit us until these posts. Seeing the cast members saying goodbye to their iconic characters is something we were not ready for. I can’t even imagine how emotional it’s going to be when I watch the actual season whenever that eventually airs.

But moving on, let’s take a look at some of these social media posts made by the actors over the course of the last few days and see what they’re all about.

Christina Ricci

On July 23, 2026, Christina Ricci took to her Instagram account to post an extremely badass yet cryptic selfie of her dressed up as her character Misty Quigley on the last day of her filming. “Went out with a bang. What an amazing couple of years Misty has had. Final season is gonna be insane,” she wrote on the post. The photo shows Ricci with a pair of sunglasses on, but obviously, the most interesting part of this whole picture is the good amount of blood splattered on her face.

Of course, Yellowjackets fans naturally went wild with speculation as to who’s blood this is on her face, with the two most popular theories being that it’s either Walter or Shauna’s blood. Or could it be somebody else’s blood? Time will only tell, but I’m definitely already impatient.

Liv Hewson

Oh, Van, I’m going to miss you. And Liv, too, of course. Yesterday, Liv Hewson posted this adorable selfie of themselves to their Instagram story, showing themselves in their trailer in front of a mirror adorned with stickers that spell out “HAPPY LAST DAY.” What’s also interesting is that they also posted another story right afterward, showcasing a playlist they made specifically for Van’s season four story. The Spotify playlist’s description reads “tfw when [redacted]”. Hmm…

Sophie Nélisse

Okay, this is the one that got me the most emotional out of anybody’s so far. My favorite Yellowjackets character by far is Shauna Shipman, and Sophie Nélisse‘s performance is, in my opinion, the best performance out of anyone in the entire show. Shauna is a widely hated character, but truthfully, I love her. I feel like she’s massively misunderstood and I feel like so many people somehow forget the insane amount of trauma she underwent while out in the wilderness. It’s sure to deeply scar anyone, so I really don’t get the huge hatred.

Nonetheless, Nélisse took to Instagram to share some behind-the-scenes pictures throughout the years, and specifically focused on her relationship with her on-screen counterpart Melanie Lynskey, who portrays the adult version of Shauna. The beautiful post reads:

“Not to get sentimental, but it’s hard to find the words to encapsulate the end of this chapter. This show – and everyone apart of it – truly has changed my life.

@msmelanielynskey sharing Shauna with you has been one of the greatest privileges of my career. You are a second mom to me and I can only aspire to become half the women that you are.

@courtneyeaton you are one of the greatest gifts life has given me. You are my rock. My partner in crime. My forever potato.

To all my Yellowjackets, I will forever be howling to IT with you guys. To everyone that poured all their love and relentless work into the show for the last 7 years, it’s an honor I’ll never take for granted.

Buzz buzz buzz”

Who the hell is cutting onions?

Jenna Burgess

Melissa Hat, I’m going to miss you. Although she’s not one of my favorite characters in the show, I’ve really appreciated how the showrunners have made her a legitimately important part of the story starting with season three, because in the previous seasons, she was quite literally just kinda… there. Jenna Burgess kept it simple by sharing a picture to her Instagram story showcasing her iconic hat sitting atop her varsity Yellowjackets jacket with a red heart emoji.

Jasmin Savoy Brown

Mark my words, Taissa Turner is going to be more important than ever in season four, and I’m here for it. This show has always been incredible at developing its characters and putting a lot of them front and center throughout the seasons, and I feel like season four is going to have a lot of Tai. Jasmin Savoy Brown – teen Tai – took to her Instagram stories and shared a picture of some Taivan fanart with the caption “bye, thank you, i love you.”

Tawny Cypress

This is the post that made me the second-most emotional. Last night, Tawny Cypress – who portrays adult Tai in the show – took to her Instagram account to share a selfie that she took while on the last day of set alongside her costars Melanie Lynskey and Christina Ricci. Something about seeing this post just really hit me that, yes, this really is the end of this show. I’m equal parts ready and not ready.

“We had fun tho, didn’t we?

#yellowjacketsforlife

#yougotsomethingonyourface

#ilovedactingwithyou”

Also, yeah, we gotta address the elephant in the room. The blood! All three women are speckled with blood. Christina’s Misty looks like she’s gotten quite hurt, Melanie’s Shauna perhaps looks the least injured, but still so. Tawny’s Tai, though… is that a bullet wound on her head? I can’t wait to get answers.

Nia Sondaya

Similar to Tai, I am so excited to see how much of role Akilah has this season. It’s been announced that her actress Nia Sondaya will be getting a series regular billing this time around, so we can expect to see a lot more Akilah than ever before in season four. She made it out of the caves, guys!

“That’s a wrap

Thank you @yellowjackets”

Who’s Next?

If you’re as big a fan of Yellowjackets as me, you probably noticed there were quite a few cast members who have yet to make goodbye posts. These include Melanie Lynskey, Courtney Eaton, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Warren Kole, Kevin Alves, Sarah Desjardins, Hilary Swank, Elijah Wood, and Ashley Sutton. It’s entirely possible that their posts are coming ASAP, or, who knows? Maybe they just won’t post.

One person who definitely won’t be posting is Ella Purnell. We all collectively want her to return one last time as Ghost Jackie, but even if she does return, she won’t be making a post right now to say goodbye because that would be too obvious that she is returning.

Either way, I’m extremely excited to see everyone else’s goodbye posts – especially Melanie’s – so hopefully those are right around the corner. And here’s to hoping that we get to watch even just the first episode of Yellowjackets season four before the end of the year. Buzz buzz buzz!
