The three-part docuseries Michael Jackson: The Verdict claimed Netflix’s No. 1 spot in the United States, underscoring the enduring fascination with the King of Pop as Antoine Fuqua’s biopic heads to VOD on June 9.
According to FlixPatrol, the series topped the Top 10 TV Shows chart on June 4, pushing Netflix originals The Four Seasons and Instadocs: Alex Murdaugh, Unconvicted to second and third place.
Inside the Docuseries
Director Nick Green avoids a simple retelling of tabloid headlines. The series traces the media frenzy back to Martin Bashir’s 2003 documentary Living With Michael Jackson and includes never‑before‑seen footage of the Neverland Ranch search warrant.
Biopic Connection
The streaming surge coincides with Antoine Fuqua’s Michael Jackson biopic, written by John Logan. The film, which opened in theaters two months ago and has earned $850 million worldwide, will be available for purchase on VOD June 9.
Jaafar Jackson portrays his famous uncle, while Juliano Valdi appears as a young Michael. Supporting talent includes Nia Long, Miles Teller and Colman Domingo.
