The Transformers franchise is expanding once again. Writer Jason Fuchs, known for his work on the upcoming It: Welcome to Derry series and the film Argylle, has been tapped to pen a new, untitled script for Paramount and Hasbro.
While specific plot details remain under wraps, this project is one of several currently in development at the studio. The new film is expected to build upon the narrative established in 2023’s Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. That film famously concluded with a post-credit scene that teased a crossover with the G.I. Joe universe, a project that is also currently in the works with writer Derek Connolly.
Expanding the Franchise
The Transformers series has seen various creative shifts over the years. After the initial run of films directed by Michael Bay, the franchise pivoted with the 1980s-set prequel Bumblebee, directed by Travis Knight. Steven Caple Jr. later took the helm for Rise of the Beasts, which moved the timeline into the 1990s. Most recently, the franchise released the animated feature Transformers One in 2024.
The upcoming project will be produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian, Michael Bay, Tom DeSanto, and Don Murphy. Steven Spielberg and Hasbro Entertainment are set to executive produce. For fans of the long-running series, this news signals that the studio remains committed to building out the cinematic universe following the setup provided in the most recent live-action installment.
Beyond his work in the Transformers universe, Fuchs is also currently developing a live-action adaptation of the popular anime series My Hero Academia for Netflix and Legendary.
