Tom Felton’s Warm Welcome to HBO’s New Draco Malfoy Sparks Excitement

Tom Felton sat down with host Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. He told listeners that he contacted Lox Pratt, the actor who will play Draco Malfoy in HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter series. Felton said he wanted to share his phone number and address with Pratt and his parents. He added that he will answer any questions the young actor may have.

Felton played Draco in all eight movies from 2001 to 2011. He now performs an older Draco in the Broadway hit Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Because he knows how heavy the role feels, he felt it was right to reach out. He kept his advice simple. He told Pratt to have fun, take many pictures, and steal props when possible. He also promised to be there if Pratt ever needs encouragement.

A Tradition of Support

Felton joins Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint in welcoming the new cast. Radcliffe sent a letter to the new Harry actor, and Grint did the same for the new Ron. Felton’s approach is more relaxed. He does not flood Pratt with tips. He just offers a friendly ear.

Changing Times for Young Actors

Felton reflected on how different the industry is now. When he filmed the movies, social media did not exist. The crew used real film cameras. He recalled a crew member who smoked a cigarette while holding a boom mic. Today, actors share their work instantly online. Felton said the shift feels “mental.”

Broadway Connections

Felton is on Broadway right now. He stars in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Across the street, Daniel Radcliffe performs his one‑man show Every Brilliant Thing. Felton noted that the two venues are only a short walk apart. He praised Radcliffe’s show as one of the best on Broadway.

Twenty‑five years after the first film, the Harry Potter universe still grows. Moments like a text from one Draco to the next keep the story human and relatable.
