Tracee Ellis Ross Secures Major Fox Entertainment Deal to Expand Joy Mill Projects

Tracee Ellis Ross has signed a multiyear first look scripted and overall unscripted deal with Fox Entertainment Studios. The Emmy nominated actress, producer and director will act as executive producer on a range of projects. These include comedy, drama, animation and reality formats.

All projects will be housed under Ross’s production company Joy Mill Entertainment. The studio will serve as the home for her first term deal with Fox. Adriana Ambriz returns to Joy Mill as head of development, a role she has held since 2020. She will guide the development pipeline and work closely with Fox partners.

Ross’s Track Record Builds Confidence

Hannah Pillemer, head of scripted at Fox Entertainment Studios, and Allison Wallach, head of unscripted, praised Ross’s unique voice. They said her instincts, curiosity and drive make her an exceptionally creative partner. They added that they look forward to creating work that inspires, entertains and reflects the world through an authentic lens.

Ross is best known for playing Rainbow Johnson on the hit ABC comedy black ish. She also executive produced and starred in its spinoff mixed ish. Her film credits include The High Note, Girlfriends and The Hair Tales. Most recently she hosted and executive produced the Roku original Solo Traveling with Tracee Ellis Ross. The travel series became Roku’s most watched unscripted original and earned a second season.

What the Deal Means for Future Projects

In a statement, Ross said joining the Fox Entertainment Studios family marks an exciting next chapter for Joy Mill Entertainment. She explained that Joy Mill focuses on creating culture bending stories centered around identity and joy. She added that early conversations with Fox showed a shared vision. Ross expressed excitement to collaborate with Hannah, Allison, Fernando Szew, Tomii Crump and their teams as the platform expands.

Ross is represented by Artists First, UTA, Origin Public Relations and Hansen Jacobson Teller. The partnership with Fox adds a powerful ally in the television landscape and promises a steady flow of new scripted and unscripted content.

The new deal positions Ross as a major force behind original programming at Fox. Fans can expect fresh comedies, dramatic series, animated projects and reality shows that reflect diverse perspectives. Joy Mill Entertainment will continue to champion stories that celebrate identity, joy and cultural relevance.
