Watch the First 5 Minutes of Stranger Things Season 5 Preview

Netflix surprised fans by posting the opening scene of the much awaited Stranger Things season 5 preview. The clip runs for exactly five minutes and drops viewers straight into a dark forest inside the Upside Down. The moment feels like a flashback to 1983, the year when Will Byers vanished. Young actor Noah Schnapp appears as a 12‑year‑old Will, trembling and humming The Clash’s classic song.

What Happens in the Opening Scene

Will sings quietly when a guttural roar shakes the trees. A massive Demogorgon crashes through a makeshift fort and forces Will to fire a rifle. He climbs a tall pine, but the creature grabs his leg and drags him back into the shadows. The screen cuts to black before a new horror appears. The view shifts to the Upside Down version of Hawkins Library where the Demogorgon delivers Will to the dark figure known as Vecna.

Vecna steps out of the gloom and declares, “At long last, we can begin.” Vines lift Will against a cracked wall. A long tentacle reaches toward his mouth and pours an unknown liquid. Vecna whispers a chilling promise, “You and I, we’re going to do such beautiful things together.” The scene ends with a close up of Vecna’s clawed hand touching Will’s forehead.

What Fans Can Expect Next

After the flashback, the story jumps to present day Hawkins, now sealed off by a military quarantine. The official synopsis says the anniversary of Will’s disappearance brings a heavy, familiar dread. Duffer brothers Ross and Matt told Netflix Tudum that season 5 “is sprinting from the start” and that “nothing in Hawkins is normal anymore.” They added that cameras monitor every corner and that the town feels like a surveillance state.

The first four episodes of Stranger Things season 5 debut on November 26 at 5 p.m. PT. Three more episodes air on Christmas Day and the series wraps with a finale on New Year’s Eve. Fans who watch the preview can expect fast paced action, deeper ties to the Upside Down, and a final showdown with Vecna.

Overall, the Stranger Things season 5 preview delivers the suspense and horror that long‑time viewers love. It sets a dark tone, reintroduces familiar monsters, and promises new mysteries for the beloved group of friends. If you want to feel the chill before the official release, watch the first five minutes now.
