Pamela Anderson is bringing back one of her most talked about roles. She and her company, And Her Sons Productions, are developing a TV series based on Dark Horse Comics’ Barb Wire. The project is still early, but the details promise a fresh take that differs from the 1996 movie.
Production Details and Family Involvement
Anderson produces the series with her sons Brandon Thomas Lee and Dylan Jagger Lee. They have not confirmed whether she will play Barbara Kopetski again, but the reboot will focus on the character’s life as Steel Harbor’s toughest bounty hunter. The family team hopes the show will celebrate Anderson’s legacy and highlight strong female figures.
What Fans Can Expect
The series will follow Barb as she rides a motorcycle, wields heavy firepower, and takes on dirty jobs for the right price. This setup opens the door for gritty, action driven stories. Fans of The Boys, Sin City, or Altered Carbon may find the tone appealing. The new show aims to deliver a different feel from the original film, which struggled at the box office.
Legacy of the Original Film
Barb Wire first appeared in Dark Horse Comics in 1994. The comic ran for nine issues and returned for a four issue miniseries in 1996, the same year the movie was released. In the film Anderson played a nightclub owner who also worked as a mercenary in a free zone of a fascist United States. The movie introduced characters such as scientist Cora Devonshire and former flame Axel Hood. Although the film has a cult following, Anderson has said she barely remembers making it.
A New Chapter for Anderson
Today Anderson enjoys a career resurgence thanks to roles in The Last Showgirl and The Naked Gun. A Barb Wire TV series could act as a superhero redemption for her and introduce the character to a new audience. The project still lacks a cast or creative team, but the early news shows that Anderson is eager to revisit this piece of 90s comic history.
