John Cena, the star of DC’s Peacemaker series, has made a surprise appearance in James Gunn’s Superman. In a recent video, Cena opened up about his last-minute call from Gunn to cameo in the DC summer blockbuster.
A Last-Minute Call
Cena explained that he was called in at the final hour as they were preparing for Peacemaker season 2. He had already done the costume fittings for the new Peacemaker season 2 wardrobe when Gunn asked him to be involved in Superman. Cena’s response was immediate: ‘Heck yes!’
Talking Smack About Superman
Cena went on to reveal that he got to go on a talk show and talk some smack about Superman. He thinks Superman is iconic because of the branding and the idea of a true virtuous superhero. ‘You have to start the story of good and evil somewhere, and I think Superman is building block one of that,’ he said.
A Superman Fan
Cena expressed his admiration for Superman, stating that he thinks everything from the branding to the idea of a true virtuous superhero makes Superman an iconic character. He believes that Superman is the foundation of the superhero genre, setting the standard for good and evil.
Superman is still playing in theaters, and Peacemaker season 2 premieres on HBO on August 21st.
