Sony takes a big ‘Risk’

Sony has found a scribe for ‘Risk’, a film based upon the popular strategy board game. I’m sure some of the int’l friends are overjoyed; others wish H’wood would rather try a game of Scrabble or Connect Four. In any case, Cinemablend gives us this:

Sony Pictures has set John Hlavin to write Risk, for a project being produced by usual Will Smith collaborators Overbrook Entertainment.

Overbrook is the same studio connected to Battleship and Candyland over at Universal. While it is interesting Risk is set up at another studio—let’s be honest with ourselves. Is the involvement of Will Smith that encouraging? Not with me- I’d much rather have a 90 minutre film based off Operation, just to see if they could get away with it. Instead we are stuck with this.

Drat!

Oh well, that’s my assessment. Does yours differ?
