Superman’s mom. It’s not the easiest job in the world to birth the earth’s greatest champion but someone has to do it. Today we learn that Julia Ormond is in negotiations to take on the role of Lara Lor-Van, Superman’s biological mother.

Warner Bros and Zack Snyder are in talks with Julia Ormond to play Superman’s Kryptonian mother, Lara Lor-Van, in Man of Steel.
Short but sweet. Ormond has been a welcome and calming re-curring guest on Law and Order Criminal Intent for a while now. I think she’s a fine choice to shack up with Crowe’s Jor-El to birth a baby, realize their planet is dying, and shoot their baby into space into the loving hands of Kevin Costner and Diane Lane. Sounds like a plan! Now that we’ve got the family out of the way I have to wonder if the last choice characters will be included in this movie or not. Specifically I wanna know about Lex Luthor.

I can’t argue with any of the casting announcements or rumours so far. Crowe, Ormand, Lane and Costner in their respective roles sounds awesome, I just wish we weren’t getting yet another origin story. It’s been done to death. Anyone who doesn’t know Supes’ origin, seriously has been under a rock their entire lives. Let’s move on – hopefully to some kick ass action!
Billy Zane would make the perfect Lex Luthor.
I don’t know about Zane. I don’t have an alternative actor in mind. It’s just that Zane seems too campy and comical for the type of Lex I want to see go up against Superman.
I want the upcoming movie to take the subject matter more seriously than previous adaptations. The last movie came closer than all others before it, but it was still too lighthearted in tone and polished in visual presentation.
