Poll: Most Anticipated September Releases

Welcome September! We’re almost a week into September, and it already looks as it might have better quality film releases over August’s. We at TMB want to know what movies are you planning on watching this month. So as always, remember you can vote for just one, or for as many movies as you want to (It’s ok to be excited for more than one). Let’s roll…

Personally, I believe August was a little bit disappointing. The only bright spots were The Expendables, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, and Piranha 3D. The Other Guys was so-so. This month, I’m defintely going to watch The American, Machete, The Town, Wall Street 2, and Buried. So on paper, September looks brighter on quality than on quantity. What about you guys?

Here’s August’s Poll Results and Each Film’s Gross For Now: (417 Votes)

The Expendables – 56% – $184,068,000
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World – 46% – $38,778,630
The Other Guys – 28% – $108,116,000
Piranha 3D – 12% – $23,129,000
Centurion – 9% – $1,300,321
The Last Exorcism – 8% – $33,552,000
Middle Men – 7% – N/A
Takers – 5% – $39,951,000
Step Up 3D – 4% – $114,104,776
Eat, Pray, Love – 4% – $70,354,000
Vampires Suck – 2% – $33,855,000
The Switch – 2% – $25,805,000
The Lottery Ticket – 1% – $20,988,000

  1. Looking forward to seeing Piranha 3D -shame I missed it on the big screen.
May I recommend Black Swan having seen it at TIFF – great Aronofsky film. Probably my favorite from him to date

  2. Man, sad world when Vampires Suck makes almost as much as Scott Pilgrim. Who the hell was spending money to watch that movie anyways? sometimes i just don’t get the general populace. And then we complain that Hollywood keeps churning out crappy movies

  3. There are very few interesting films during this month. August was just a drag. This was probably one of the worst summer movie’s year ever. Lol “The Town” is probably the biggest film coming this month, with everything else falling short. Everyone nowadays are too busy with the festivals to really go see “Going The Distance”.

    1. For Scott Pilgrim I think you really needed a lot more 15 year old video game / manga junkies writing reviews. And, I think they are all busy texting each other.

    2. The marketing targetted the teenage market instead of showing what the movie really was.

Superbad was a direct opposite of this effect. + McLovin. I’m 39 now, and I paid to see Superbad (twice). I related to the cops the second time…;)

Expendables would’ve been better if it was just Stallone, Dolph and Statham. *SPOILER*

And…If they are Expendable, how come none of them dies?

I would like to go see Centurion, but I’m not going to spend $30 (after date, & popcorn) unless I see a little marketing investment by the studio too…Fassbender (And Waltz) stole Inglorious Basterds for me…

The rest of August was dreck filled. Although at least Piranha knew it was dreck.

    3. Scott Pilgrim failed because Michael Cera is truly obnoxious. I just saw Youth in Revolt the other night and I was surprised that his Francois Dillinger character actually had more depth than what he’s used to. The kid’s a one trick pony, man. Not just me thinks so…but virtually EVERY single person i’ve spoken to, didn’t want to see because of him.
