International Star Trek Poster Online

A new International Poster has been posted online via IESB.net who posted the Empire Exclusive release.

The post is alright and hits on the important elements of a character centric franchise, showing the Enterprise in its prelaunch construction state. It conveys enough about the movie to get the point across, but its the same images we have seen splashed everywhere promoting this movie.

They manage to just barely dodge the “floating photoshop heads” but only just barely. And they are not even new pictures of the faces. They are the same recycled images we have already been exposed to a dozen times.

I am excited for this movie, and I hope that soon we might actually see a poster that matches my enthusiasm.

  1. I love Trek, although I’m not one of those folks who know every last tidbit up to and including episode numbers. I acknowledge that they made it up as they went along.

As far as the original series, TNG, and the movies go, it’s the characters I adore,a nd I hope they stay faithful to that.

What worries me is JJ isn’t a Trek fan. There have been quite a few times that a non-trekker directed a Star Trek film. Two of the times were Star Trek II and VI. Two of the good Trek films. The other time was Stuart Baird directing Star Trek Nemesis, which is tied with the fifth film for the weakest films in the franchise. Ok, one time out three.

But JJ has gone out of his way to constantly say “I never cared for Trek, I love Star Wars” which is a nice way of saying “Star Trek sucks, Star Wars rules.” I can handle that. To each their own. Personally, I like both franchises. But when I watch Star Wars, I don’t want Star Trek, and when I watch Star Trek, I don’t want Star Wars.

  2. I was enthused by the last trailer but the new commercial was kind of bland. Maybe it was the edit or music? I was just left feeling kind of…eh? This poster does the same…eh?

I really hope the new Trek is smart, not just action packed (Which I do think the series needed more of). Even though the last trailer was cool, I am still a little skeptical. When I step into that theater I want something fresh, smart, and most of all exciting! If I get a Transformers, all action no brains type movie, I am going to be very angry.
