With 2008 now behind us it’s time to start looking forward to the films of 2009. There are a lot of good (and bad) looking flicks coming our way in the next 12 months.
Our good friends over at Cinematical put up a list of the Comedy, Horror and Family films slated to come our way. Take a look over them and then go into the comments section to talk about the ones you’re most looking forward to seeing.

March: Race to Witch Mountain (Disney + The Rock = $$$), Monsters vs. Aliens.
April: Hannah Montana: The Movie.

The Butterfly Effect 3: Revelations (After Dark) — A theatrical-release sequel to a DTV sequel. Weird.
Dying Breed (After Dark) — Horror from down unda’. Familiar but effective. I dug it.
From Within (After Dark) — Also known as The Tribeca Nap.
Perkins’ 14 (After Dark) — A bunch of brainwashed folks go psycho. Sounds cool.
Slaughter (After Dark) — Chick moves to a huanted farm. Really?
The Unborn (Rogue) — David Goyer. Undead kid. Cloverfield hottie. PG-13.

‘Up’ is now my most anticpated film of 2009. After hearing what the guys at AICN’s Butnumbathon said about the footage they say, I just flipped for it.
I don’t know why Alvin and the Chipmunks 2 is listed under ‘comedy’. I think that’s wishful thinking.

I have yet to be really pleased with an asian horror remake. I can only assume A Tale of Two Sisters remake is going to butcher the original. But hopefully not.
Are the side comments from you John, or Cinematical? Regardless, the first handful of Horror is The annual After Dark Horrorfest 8 Films To Die For. Thus, these films only play in a limited release as a block booking for a week with each film only getting a few screenings. While it’s possible one or more may get a separate limited release (such as The Abandoned from a few years ago), the majority of them (regardless of quality) go to DVD (ususally distributed by Lionsgate) and then get re-edited for cable, specifically The Sci-Fi Channel.
I myself only liked a small handful of the series: The Hamiltons, Gravedancers and The Deaths Of Ian Stone.

I’ve got quite a bit to look forward to this year I guess. To me, my most anticipated from these three lists are The Fantastic Mr. Fox (Wes Anderson’s first foray into animation), Up (From what I’ve heard, it’s going to be a classic), and Where The Wild Things Are. WTWTA is probably my most anticipated film of this year. There’s not much horror stuff that I’m looking forward to, as I actually think good American horror is dead, but I really can’t wait to check out the Friday The 13th remake, and My Bloody Valentine 3D, for the simple reason that there is a 3D sex scene.
I have been waiting a long time for Fanboys. does anyone know if they decided to go with the “friend with cancer” story-line or the re-write?
