The familiar face of Jean Reno will pop up in the comedy Couples Retreat. We get the following casting scoop thanks to our friends at comingsoon:
Jean Reno has joined Universal comedy Couples Retreat, which is about to go into production, reports Variety. Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau star. The story follows four couples who go to a tropical island resort, where they discover that participation in the resort’s couples therapy is not optional.
Reno will play a therapist and operator of the resort. Favreau wrote the comedy that Peter Billingsley is directing. Jason Bateman, Kristen Bell, Malin Akerman, Kristin Davis and Faizon Love round out the cast.
The cast for this sounds good. I like the interplay between Favreau and Vaughn and am glad I get to see them work together anew in this couples comedy. Adding Jason Bateman for the mix only adds to the potential of the chemistry.
Reno is one of those dudes that I’ve seen in many films (but can’t remember for the life of me which ones). Looking over his IMDB I notice that he primarily does French language films, but has also been in the Rollerball remake (money for the new pool) and a number of larger budget Hollywood films (which is where I would have seen him).
Reno has a sternness about him and seems like a perfect fit for the role of couples retreat operator. Now we wait and see.
I will see this for Bateman alone. The man is hilarious.
He’ll never be a therapist in my mind. I’ll always remember him as – The Professional. Awesome.
You cannot mention Jean Reno’s name and not mention the Professional- one of the greatest movies ever!
