Hulk Will Not Be The Villain In Avengers

TihThanks to an official release from Marvel, we now know that the Hulk will not be the villain in the upcoming Avengers film. We get the following blurb via IESB:

THE AVENGERS will bring together the super hero team of Marvel Comics characters for the first time ever, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, the Hulk and more, as they are forced to band together to battle the biggest foe they’ve ever faced.

Well, the above quote does pretty much dash all hope of the Hulk being the villain in the Avengers film, and that is fine with me. I wasn’t opposed to the idea – but would prefer to see the Hulk as an enemy in an Avengers sequel. In the first film I would much prefer the team be introduced and face a common foe worthy of their combined strength.

I know some of you were hoping for the Hulk to be the villain. International friends – does this news excite or disappoint you?

  1. I feel that the very thought of “The Incredible Hulk” being introduced as a foe from the very start in the Avenger Franchise, closes all doors of introduction for legendary Hero’s,villain’s and ultimately the biggest comic battles to hit the big screen! Justice must be served to the people in steps before they can appreciate the leaps the movie industry is making. To see the pages of Marvel come to life on the cinema scene has brought real joy to the world. And slow down the movie and story line process, because we burnt our bridges behind us, by leaping ahead without concidering the financial consequences to the box offices or more importantly the effect it would have on the hopes and dreams of the loyal viewers, such as myself, would serve as an incredible injustice. These movies were intended to marvel the audience as much if not more then the comic books did when we were growing up. Let us not take that away from the fans of all ages by putting an ending before the beginning.

  2. its going to be one hell of a sweet movie, but like the avengers animated movie cap, iron man, thor had one hell of a time controling the hulk. i think its going to be a fight that somebody is going to go home black and blue..

  3. N: I think the movie did show Hulk with a good amount of humanity, such as his reluctance to find Abomination.

    The very first time the group of Thor, Wasp, Ant Man, Iron Man & Hulk came together was sheerly by coincidence. They came togehter to battle Loki. Technically Cap was not an original member, but rather replaced Hulk after a time. But they seem to be mixing the Ultimate Universe with the mainstream universe for the films (ex. black Nick Fury as apposed to the original white Nick Fury). So at this point it’s still a toss up. But I would like to see Hulk take on somebody, even if it’s just to calm him down. Like that fancy footwork Blonsky put in at the campus. I just think they need to stress his virtually unlimited strength. I want to see him toss a fire truck or something. Make him stop an earthquake by holding the splitting earth together. Pick up a fully-loaded bus and bring it to safety.

  4. Good news. The Hulk was a member of the Avengers in the first few issues until he went rogue. Now all they need to do is make him less of a beast & restore some humanity to him like the old Comic Books.

  5. Why in the HELL would anybody want Hulk to be the VILLAIN! He’s a super hero! The only time he’s ever a “villain” is in alternate universes and vs comics. He’s always been a good guy though.

  6. I would much rather see the Masters of Evil led by Baron Zemo then aliens or even the hulk. Despite all the comicbook movies being put out, we really need a good old super powered heroes vs villains throwdown.

  7. First off, they might even stick to the comics- have Hulk appear in the film, decides to work alone, and he’s gone in under 45minutes. He helped stop Abomination, so his ‘dangerous bad guy’ tag is, at best a ‘misunderstood’ label, so any ‘bad guy’ status Hulk has would be short.

    Also, I’M ESTATIC!

    This opens the door for any classic Avengers bad guy. I’ll even go here: “Masters Of Evil”:
    * Baron Heinrich Zemo (leader)
    * Black Knight (Nathan Garrett)
    * Enchantress
    * Executioner
    * Melter
    * Radioactive Man

  8. You just know that at some point during the Avengers Sam Jacksons going to turn to Iron Man, Thor and Cap and say “The teams all here but theres just one more member to get and you guys are going to get him!” cue Cap IM and Thor and Hulk in a big smackdown.

    Hulk will be like the first challenge for the newly formed Avengers, the first test of their teamwork if ya like.

  9. slightly disappointed, would be a good all round fit as a enemy,

    but mainly as I doubted Edward Norton would come back for it

    so I thought they could say something really bad happened and Edward Norton was ‘stuck’ in Hulk form, then he could be ‘the baddie’ then if it does well it might convince Norton to do Avengers2, if not Hulk’s not in it.

  10. I am not sure having him as the badguy would be a good idea, because, you know he’s not bad, he’s just drawn that way. I think, to have a good villian, they really need someone evil, and powerful. I wouldn’t mind seeing the Avengers having a really hard time keeping the Hulk in check, I think that would be smart, to have a bit of a battle with him when he gets too crazy, but that should be the extent of it.

  11. I’m only familiar with the recent animated Avengers movie, and they were able to fit both the Hulk and a bunch of aliens in there as the enemies. I think Hulk is better off as a side-villain in a sequel anyway. He’s not evil, just really angry. Defeating him would be one of those “let the air out of the tires” moments once Betty shows up to talk him down. There should always be someone else who needs their ass kicked even more.

  12. I personally want the Hulk as the Villian in Iron Man 2 and then finally the Mandarin in the 3rd installment. I think they set that possibility up at the end of The Incredible Hulk. (still, it won’t happen…) It’d be cool to see in IM2 Tony have to hunt Bruce/Hulk down and “convince” him to join the Avengers Initiative. This would set up the Avengers film perfectly. But that’s just my 2 cents.

  13. i would have liked to see them face the hulk but this news dose not disappoints me i just hope they just do a great job for this movie i have very high hopes
