Mark Millar Confirms Wanted Sequel And Discusses Involvement

WantedWanted will be birthing at least one sequel upon us, and it looks like Mark Millar will be involved in the baby making. We get confirmation from the man himself, and news of his involvement thanks to our friends at comingsoon:

“What I will be doing is providing them with a very small amount of stuff for a story, and that will be used as a basic story that they can build from. It will be a small outline that can possibly be picked apart and not used – but it will be something exclusively for the second film, and no one will ever really see it.”

Given that the film version of the story differs from the comic book version in a number of ways (some quite substantial) Millar’s outline will be set in the film’s continuity, but will reach back to the comics. “It will be some of the stuff that we didn’t utilize from the first book for the movie – like chapters three and four – there will be some stuff from that, so in the loosest sense it will be based on the book, but only very little,” Millar said.

If a sequel is to be made, I think it’s kind and appropriate of Millar to plot an outline. It would be better for him to craft the whole shebang, but if he doesn’t have a say, shooting an outline over to them is probably the best compromise.

I have yet to see this one, but Campea raved about it and the general consensus seems to be good. Most negative feedback that I have read is from fans of the graphic novel. This does not surprise me, when you love something you want to see it done the way that you enjoyed it – and if someone drops the ball or makes changes, you can’t help but be miffed.

Whenever a film makes money these days, more often than not a sequel soon follows. In this case do you guys think the film warrants a sequel or should it be done at one?

  1. Да, таких интересных блогов я невидел! Этот блог даст фору многим сайтам ( по содержанию и не только)! Шесть баллов!

  2. Never read the graphic novel, but it sounds a shitload better then what this shit turned out to be.

Although I’m pretty down on the first film (It was like swallowing a turd wrapped in pubes) positives to come out of it, the entire cast is dead bar one, rejoice!

Maybe the sequel will be like drinking a warm cup of piss, an improvement, but it still leaves a nasty aftertaste.

  3. all said the movie sucked but the Graphic Novel rocked as a Graphic Novel
I really didn’t like to see some russian come and RAPE but it happend i saw the movie and i really believed i’ve sined by doing so
So I don’t really like to see the a sequel to a shit even if millar is writing it
The movie was just Stupid that russian guy just did a better Day Watch Movie but called it Wanted

I’d say that the movie isn’t even the same story as the comic and that they are WORLDS apart. The only thing that was the same were the names, a handful pieces of dialogue, and the Fraternity and that’s it. The graphic novel was about how superheroes have been all destroyed and all that’s left are a fraternity of supervillains. Even that curving the bullet stuff is only in the film. In the novel, Wesley kills anyone just for the fun of it and rapes A-list female celebrities for the same reason.

  5. The comic was so over the top, that I don’t think they could’ve ever translated it to film, kinda like “The Boys”. The weavers thing was pretty supid though. The bending of bullets wasn’t in the comic either.

  6. the gnome guy (sorry i dont know his name) was spectacular in this movie…and yes i loved this movie and would most definatedly welcome a sequel..

although you CAN find a couple of negative comments i made about this movie a while ago. i thought it would suck…i was clearly wrong
