Eagle Eye gets IMAX Release

IMAX stamps that extra level of excitement on films. I love catching massive effects movies on IMAX when I can. Nothing drives that experience into your head like massive clean sound and a beautiful four storey picture. Often IMAX releases take place a little while after the original theatrical run (party to see if they are successful enough to show in the unique theatres) but the upcoming Eagle Eye is getting a simultaneous release in IMAX.

DreamWorks/Paramount have prepared an IMAX trailer for Eagle Eye that will be attached to Warner Bros.’ The Dark Knight in IMAX theaters shortly. It is to announce that the D.J. Caruso-directed film will get a simultaneous IMAX DMR release along with its 35mm opening on September 26th.

I would have thought that IMAX would be the type of format set for epic visual films. Lots of effects.

Eagle Eye looks more to be a suspense thriller. Does that really deserve an IMAX treatment?

I would go and see Transformers or Batman on an IMAX screen, but where is the value of a movie with very little special effects in it on that big screen.

What’s next? Bridget Jones Diary 3: Electric Boogaloo IN IMAX!!

  1. I was fortunate enough to be an extra in the film I think based on the special effects and the theme of the movie it will hold up to the standards of IMAX fans. I’m actually so excited for it.

  2. BJON

dude..that was a 4 second scene with a crane on it not a 2 hour movie with optimus prime on it…most of the movie is a suspence involving the peopel on the phone..

just imagine the movie phonebooth but only that in this one theire not in the booth for 2 hours…

and yes SAHIL i forgot about watchmen- ill put that on my IMAX list too along with thor and cap….

  3. I’m sorry, rodney, but did ya actually SEE the trailer??? uuuuhh…cuz at the end of it, a big ass fuckin crane thing bum rushes the side of the building and shia is told to jump out of the window and he’s looking down from like the top floor…..anyways, looked puuurty damn “BIG” to me. Who KNOWS what else they have in that sucker.

  4. has anyone seen the trailer where side of the building gets blown up and he has to jump out of the gap? I would imagine in imax that could look quite nice

  5. i guess..i really dont know because im not into that type of movies but maybe someone who is would like to see them in imax…

i just thought someone into romances would prefer watching it on imax just how id prefer to watch the hulk on imax…

i personally only watch movies on imax when the big timers come out like TDK…im waiting on thor and captain america….

  6. Hazmat, my question then is “how is a suspense any better on a bigger screen?”

IMAX was made to showcase quality. Seeing a clearer picture of an actor in a drama hardly seems worth the time.

  7. rodney,
i totally agree with you but i also disagree- i would only see “transformer” type movies in imax or batman but- what about the people who like these types of movies? what if someone likes romance movies? are they not allowed to see the notebook in imax? if they dont like action/cgi transformers type movies then they cant watch imax movies

if i hated action movies and loved comedies..i would LOVE to see tropic thunder in imax..its about what people like..i think its fair that way….

but im talking for other people not myself..id hate to see the notebook in imax, i like action movies…
