Astin, Weston and Foster all get Demoted

Sean Astin, Celia Weston and Sara Foster will join Michael Vartan and David Cross in “Demoted” which was talked about on the live UnCut show the other day when the writers Dan Callahan and Adam Ellison made an appearance.

Yahoo reports:

The film centers on two tire salesmen (Astin, Vartan) who delight in playing cruel pranks on their co-worker (Cross). When the victim unexpectedly becomes their boss, he places the humiliated duo in secretarial jobs.

Foster will play the wife of Astin’s character, who’s tricked into believing he was promoted. Weston will play the head secretary, who inspires the best friends to plot their revenge.

The underdog buddy movie comedy has always been popular. Everyone has had a boss they dislike and wished they could exact their revenge. Its easy to relate to.

Its also easy to find comedy in these situations. A congratulatory fist pump for every punctuated prank is so satisfying. And eventually an underlying “what goes around – comes around” lesson will be learned and many laughs along the way.

I met Astin this past weekend at Fan Expo and in my brief encounter he seemed incredibly down to earth and a guy who likes to laugh. While everyone else was all dolled up to look pretty for the fans, Astin was wearing a TShirt and backwards ballcap.

I look forward to seeing him in this.

  1. this movie was filmed in milford michegan on the street directly behind my house and in the town 3 streets forward. as you can tell i had some time to mingle with the cast, you may not no how interesting that is for a 13 year old girl that is and i did get to meet patrick he was extrely kind and openminded. but i also got the chance to examine sean astin i disagree he was a SHOW OFF all of my friends agrre he wasted move time ridin a motorized scooter through the quiet town of milford. easily it was determined by many abnouctious. i look forward to attending to the movie when it arrives.

  2. Yeah. They just finished in Milford and will be in Detroit tomorrow. They were on the street behind my house while in Milford. I got a gig as an extra for monday and tuesday. I will be a jogger. Its awesome.

  3. They were filming behind my high school in Novi some of the days this week, and I got to watch! Me and some friends went over to ask about it and everything and to see if we could be in it, but they just kept telling us random things about the movie instead of answering our questions. It was awesome watching them film it though!!

  4. I WORK THERE TOO. I WALKED IN THE LINE OF THE MOVIE SHOOT. I HOPE TO BE IN IT. MY BOSS THOUGHT I WAS IN A MEETING ALL DAY, BUT GUESS WHERE I WAS. TRYING TO GET IN THE MOVIE! I WORK FOR PEANUTS TOO, BUT I USED UP ALL MY SICK DAYS. GO DEARBORN MICHIGAN!

  5. They are filming this movien in the building attached to our office in Dearborn Michigan. It is a riot to see the crews coming in / out every day. Hopefully they need some office people to fill in the back-ground scenes… I already sit around all day doing nothing anyway, I already work for peanuts, and and banked a few sick days… watch for me! I’m going to walk over there right now…

  6. David Cross deserves tonsmore work…He was even pretty good in (Gasp) Alvin and the Chipmunks…

What!? I have a 5 year old, what am I supposed to tak them to see? Tropic Thunder?

  7. Sounds vaguely like Dirty Work (pranksters who plot ultimate revenge after being duped), but with the cast I can see it being less of a brash and irreverent comedy like Norm was so good at doing. I loved David Cross in Arrested Development.
