Each set of pictures looks better than the last. This film seems to be getting an escalating amount of buzz, and rightly so. Everything we have seen thus far has looked good and reception from the fans has seemed to be positive (so far as I can tell.)

International Friends; what are your thoughts of these pictures?

  1. peopel complained when the JLA looked old (they were all around 28) and now were complaining that the watchmen look young?

cmon. please. its a fucking movie the guy doing harry potter is 18 not 17 like the actual character- so what he looks 14 anyways….its a flick…

  2. I think these pictures look awful. There all to young looking. Rule of Hollywood, know one wants to watch old people, these stills look like something you would see in photos of someones dress up party

  3. This movie looks like crap. I hate those slow downs (slow motion stuff). A five year old can do that on his Mac. Why does everything have to be in slow motion???? There is too much CGI and slow motion crap. That stuff just takes me right out of the movies. Making movies in real time, and flowing it in real time takes a lot more effort than just slow-moing everything in CGI. And is the guy narrating this the same guy who narrated 300; the same cheesy, english/fake actor-guy???? SO BAD!!!! I wish people would make movies the way they used to make ’em: God Father, Heat, Dog Day Afternoon, etc. Shoot it in real time, and for real. Nolan does it, Sydney Lumet did it, Coppola did it. This movie seems more like a freakin’ music video than a movie. A Cheesy Music Video! Hollywood needs talent…and FAST!

  4. you skipped the prose? aww man, there are vital clues (well more fun and enlightening than vital) about the plot in there. and damn, if mr. moore goes to that much extra effort to provide a unique comic-book experience, you’d hope they’d be read.
but i can understand why people might skip them, disappointed as i am.
ah well, at least you read the comic.

  5. So far it looks like it’s sticking true to form. The pictures are one thing, but how this story translates over to film is another. Still anticipating the release though. The Comedian looks dark here, I like it.

  6. I liked Watchmen but I did skip the prose parts. I can understand somebody thinking it’s long and boring. The story unfolds in grand fashion and everything that happens just makes sense and yet you never see it coming.

I’d say my favourite part is when Rorshach is in jail and busts out.

I don’t know how I feel about this movie though The heroes in the comic were meant to look kind of cheesy. I felt it was an intentional juxtaposition to the serious tone of the story.

I really think this will be a niche movie at best. I can’t imagine anybody other than fans of the graphic novel wanting to see this. Sin City had that film noir appeal and 300 had spartans and pseudo ancient history. The Watchmen? Nobody is going to go see a superhero movie about heroes they aren’t familiar with (exceptions being The Incredibles, Hancock but even these can be explained by Pixar & Will Smith). Unlike the Spirit, it doesn’t have a boatload of beautiful actresses to draw in the non comic book male crowd.

  7. Am I the only one who didn’t think Watchmen was the greatest graphic novel ever? I thought it was tedious and boring.
The Dark Knight Returns has my nod as being the greatest graphic novel ever.

  8. Everything so far looks amazing for Watchman! Can it be pulled off as a film? I fuckin’ hope so! The idea of being able to translate this damn near perfect graphic novel is going to take some big balls. So far so good!

  9. This looks amazing! I’ve loved this novel for over 20 years, and I can’t wait. I came out of Dark Knight, more jazzed about the Watchmen trailer than the movie I’d just seen. If you don’t know the novel, you’re in for a treat since, you get to experience the story for the first time. As for originality, Pixar’s Incredibles, and to varying smaller degrees, every superhero project made into a movie, have lifted material from Watchmen. The Incredibles was the comedy version, this story is a heavy brutal read, and it’s not about Heroes vs villains. It’s a murder mystery, romance, conspiracy story with the cold war erupting in the background.

  10. was that not the best song in any trailer EVER?!

the begining is the end by smashing pumpkins

thats like the best song EVER..best lyrics…

doomsday clock by smashing pumpkins being a close secound

    this is going to ROCK!

    PETER
just because it looks like 300 or sin city it doesnt mean its going to suck….thats like saying sweeney todd is horrible because you didnt like the sissor hands movie or the dead bride movie…its a stupid thing to say….its got the same FEELING to it

lord of the rings and in the name of the king had the same feeling to them but one of them was AWFULL and one of them got like 11 oscars

  11. This film is getting a lot of hype on the net but my gut feeling is the general public will not do a back flip over this material. To most, this isn’t Batman, Superman or Spiderman. Yes, it will probably do well but it won’t have breakout appeal. Unless Im wrong but I don’t think I will be!

  12. I’m really hoping they don’t mess this film up. Really looking forward to it and there’s not a great dealy you can tell from just looking at these pictures. I mean anyone can get a ‘look’ right but can they match that with the story of the Watchmen?

    Fingers officially crossed.

  13. The guy next to the jail cell is a cheap imitation of batman and that girl: you can see her crotch. So stupid! This is gonna be another R rated Cartoony cheese fest: exactly like Sin City, 300, etc. Does antone have any originality? Sin City, 300, Watchmen, The Spirit, are all gonna be the same movie with different stories. No originality.

  14. fuck yes….cant wait…night owl and spectre (2) are lookin sweet in their update….the comedian looks solid as well….come on, dont fuck this up…if dont right this could be THE best comic book movie ever
