Diary Of The Dead

Diaryofthedead 1752[4]We have some Diary Of The Dead news for those that love slow walkers! We get the following mini synopsis and Sundance schedule thanks to our friends at IESB:

The latest sequel to Romero’s 1968 horror classic “Night of the Living Dead,” finds a group of young film students who run into real-life zombies while filming a horror movie of their own.

If you are in town for the Sundance Film Festival the film is screening as follows:

-Jan 18 at 11:30pm – Library Center Theatre
-Jan 22 at 9:00pm – Tower Theatre, Salt Lake City
-Jan 26 at 11:30pm – Holiday Village Cinema II
-Jan 27 at 10:00am – Holiday Village Cinema I

Romero is a rockstar to those that love horror films. I saw him this past year at the Toronto Comic/Sci-Fi/Horror convention and the dude was swarmed by a mob of fans. He is a man that has settled into a genre that he loves, and legions of fans worldwide seem to validate his decision. For those of you that cannot make it to Sundance, Diary Of The Dead will have a limited release on February 15, 2008. Thanks to Jeff for giving me the heads up on the trailer this morning, and for sending me a picture of Baphomet!

  1. So you watched half an hour of it and fast forwarded through the rest and you think you are an authority on the quality of this film?

I have no faith in the opinion of a film from someone who didnt even watch it.

  2. Okay, i just got done seeing approximately 30 mins of Diary of the Dead on DVD, after fast forwarding about 85% of it and I gotta tell ya that I’m pretty disappointed with what I saw. I’d have to say there were um a total of like 15-20 zombies in this George A. Romero zombie movie, ?, and probably the worst cast of actors I have ever seen perform. Honestly, I am a big fan of all of the “Living Dead” films, and thought I would be astounded by this new one, but I experienced the exact opposite. Bottom line, if that blonde chick had shown her breasts for maybe a split second, it would’ve made up for the $1.50 I wasted on this “horror” movie. Romero, a big fan, but work on getting a better casting director and more zombies wouldn’t hurt either.

  3. Romero is The Man indeed. as were his first 3 zombie flicks.no one can take that away from him. Land Of The Dead sucked serious ass though. i dug the antidubya message & the cameos by the Shaun boys but it was seriously lacking in scares. in fact it had none. Land came across more as a 2nd rate action movie that just happened to have zombies in it.

  4. just like Campea with Cloverfield, i’m interested in Diary but cannot get excited about it. both it & Cloverfield have very similar premises: bunch of survivors with vidcams running & hiding from zombies & a godzilla-like monster respectively.
why do they both smack of BlairWitchism?!?
