Transformers DVD Released October 16th

Transformers-Dvd-EditionThey best summer popcorn flick of all time is coming to DVD on October 16th. Paramount has announced that the Transformers DVD is coming in 2 flavors on that date! Will wonders never cease? A studio releasing 2 versions… but on the SAME DATE so to give the customers a fair and equal choice! Grand!

The folks at DVDactive give these details on the 2 different versions of the Transformers DVD:

Disc 1:

— Feature film

— Commentary by Michael Bay

Disc 2:

— Our World

— The Story Sparks – Steven Spielberg discusses his love for the

franchise and early concept art for the film. Explores how the

writers adapted the cartoon into a live-action movie and why

Michael Bay is the perfect director for the film.

— Human Allies – A look at how the actors were selected and their

experiences on the set.

— I Fight Giant Robots – An exploration of the military training

that Josh Duhamel and Tyrese Gibson underwent for their roles

and the various stunts that the actors were asked to perform.

— Battleground – A piece on the senior officials from the

Department of Defense and Air Force who consulted on the film

to give it authenticity and the key locations that the U.S.

government provided access to.

— Their War

— Rise of the Robots – Explores the interaction between Hasbro

designers and Michael Bay to bring the toy line roaring to life.

— AUTOBOTS Roll Out – Michael Bay discusses working with Chevy and

its designers and the modifications that were made to the cars

seen in the film.

— DECEPTICONS Strike – The film’s military advisors discuss the

“toys” they allowed the production to borrow: F-22 Raptors,

Ospreys and A-10 Warthogs.

— Inside the AllSpark – ILM’s digital artists discuss the

challenges of bringing the TRANSFORMERS to life.

— More Than Meets The Eye

— From Script to Sand: The SKORPONOK Desert Attack – An in-depth

look at the making of this particularly epic and challenging

scene from initial storyboarding through production and visual

effects.

— Concepts – Early sketch concepts of the robots.

— Trailers

I really appreciate the fact that they’re putting the two versions out at the same time… cause I would have gobbled up the single disc version if they didn’t put out the 2 disc set till 2008 sometime… then I would have had to buy it again. JOY!

  1. @Tigerclaw

I really HATE that artwork. WOW, it’s kinda tacky, and if they didn’t have all that shit on the cover, they wouldn’t have to break up the title so it says trans formers like that. Ugh.

  2. “Best summer popcorn movie of all time”? I thought it was one of the most moronic and inept big budget movies I ever saw but that’s your business if you like that sort of shit. I’m just curious how you got to the point of ranking that particular one higher than Jaws, Die Hard, Aliens, Terminator 2, Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Predator, First Blood, Robocop, Total Recall and the hundreds of other good summer movies that have been made in the past 30 years or so? Or did you just not watch those ones? If not I recommend them highly.

  3. October 16, eh?? Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t this just 15 or 16 weeks after the theatrical debut?? Even high grossing summer blockbusters are coming home to us faster these days, not just mediocre horror movies.

  4. Tom, your opinion is your opinion, as johns is his opinion and mine is my opinion, the sooner you understand this, the less time the rest of us can waste reading your movie bashing, now if you not interested in the DVD release, why the hell are you posting here?

I enjoyed both die hard and transformers, but transformers came well out on top for me, because die hard was far to censorified (yea I make up words) to hit the bigger audiance and had non of the flavour the original trilogy carried. 5. transformers was not the best summer action movie of the summer. and sorry john but those were not the best special fx. davy jones were the best special fx ever. now die hard 4 was much more enjoyable than this mediocre movie. yes there were some great action scenes but the camera was too shaky. like you said about the bourne supremacy, oooooh the violence is so brutal we might get an nc17. die hard had a steady camera and it felt good to see mclane back. now that movie had some of the best action ever. you just had so high expections for transformers that you think its the best action movie of the summer. i had low expectations with die hard 4 specially with the pg13 rating but it turned out great

  6. I myself heard from seibertron.com that on a website they have pre-orders on a special edition DVD where the box transforms. I e-mailed John this news a short time ago but I know it will be long time b4 he can read it. I hope this ones not going to double dip also but i have a feeling it will.

  7. Hate to be the fly in the ointment, but I see no special feature focusing on the voice actors for the robots. Come on people, give Cullen some love!!!!!!!!!!
